[WIP] dod_rattenjagd

Hi!

I'm currently working on a map and was hoping for some feedback. It's supposed to be a small, tightand gloomy map set in a bunker, as opposed to all those bombed-out-town-maps out there (which I like, too, mind you :) )

The plot is basically that allied forces, having been informed of a secret back door into the axis bunker, have to infiltrate said building and conquer it.

There are two victory points: the main bunker room and the radio room, which the allies have to conquer to win. The Axis win after a timer has elapsed, signifying the arrival of reinforcements.

The allies have the opportunity of blasting open an alternative route to the main bunker room, but have to plant the tnt in an open space, which can be easily defended by the axis.

What do you guys think?

I'd appreciate some comments on the design and was hoping that someone might have some idea of how to make it less bland.

I was especially thinking of adding more cover in the corridors, but you can't just place heaps of crates everywhere...

Thanks.

EDIT: Posted some more and better screens on the page

Much better.

Like you said, a bit open/bland looking, my suggestion is first of all to look at what screens of dod_bunker you can find, great ideas of what you could do in a map like this. Other maps to examine: dod_radar2, and dod_charlie. More color for one thing, you can get some good bunker textures out of dod_narby.wad.

something you might want to consider for some of the walls in the corridors to have them v shaped, as in the middle of the height of the wall gets pushed back say 10units in hammer and then put in support beams. I've attached a screenshot from hammer of what i mean. res is abit werid but it should give you an idea on what i mean.

It helps break you the same look that alot of corridors have using something like that ;)

Maybe consider getting rid of those bookshelves.
I mean, I'd love to sit down and read some fine litterature in my bunker, but if there was a war going on outside, I am sure I would find myself quite busy fending off baddies.
