It has been a long time since have posted because i have been without a computer for over a month after a major upgrade with my old system went all wrong

I just got my new alienware system and have started mapping again

My latest work DoD_Landschaft (Formerly known as DoD_Abfall) has been retextured and has had many changes made to it including the removal of rain and a whole change of the atmosphere

The map's layout is still the same as it was the last time i posted pics of it but it now takes place durring the sunny afternoon and will no longer be a para map

The objectives of the map will be to capture 3 main areas (each team will start with 1 area under their control and 1 neutral flag in the middle of the map)

There are is still some structural and entity work that needs to be finished before i can playtest and release the map

Anyway here are some shots of the retextured and renamed dod_landschaft, i will have more soon

Looks excellent!

Can we get an idea of how the r_speeds are?

The max i have gotten while walking around the map was no more then 750

They might come close to 900 when you are looking at the river area but that is not so bad

*heart explodes*
I love countryside maps, not hedgerow and forest countryside maps, but fields with some trenches countryside maps. I hope your LGW work will be just as good, NC.

The map's terrain is rockin but I somehow fear this map will be an all-out boltaction, sniper war:/ Please prove me wrong!

Well, i have set the map up so no class will have will have any greater opertunity then the others, so it should work out well

I also think that snipers should be harder to find and kill though so i am taking that in to consideration as well

Bottom line is that this map should be fun no matter what class you select

Also, i forgot to ask how you all like the new name?

DoD_Landschaft = DoD_Countryside in german

Howitzer, no offence, but you're wrong since the DoD team gave some wonderful variables to the server admins, like mp_limitalliesspring.

>Also, i forgot to ask how you all like the new name?
The game is cool, except when the r_speeds are too high. Above 700 wpolys 4200 epolys for example.

if your machine cant handle 700 wpoly and 4200 epoly, or a little more, then your outdated

Exactly ;)

ehehe...you're right, dod_charlie, dod_5points and dod_taijisjjimoumima aren't played on 32 players servers because my machine is outdated. Logic ;)
Don't talk about my PC, you don't know it. What you can do instead is take a look at your HL box to see the minimum hardware required. Then consider not every player in the community has a 5GHz CPU. Some have less. Maps are played by all. If you want to do leet-maps being played by leet-CPUs, do it, but don't talk about my PC.

End of discussion: if you have something personnal to tell me, use PM.

DoD maps require stronger PCs than most mods from my observation. Which is a shame, but eventually those days come.

With the built in class limits, that should help the gameplay significantly.

WoW, this map looks nice. I can't wait to try it out :).

As I've said before, and Mith stole, I can't wait to see your work with LGW. What are you mapping for them again?

Well i will be doing a few maps for them

One of them will be a beach map (probly pointe du hoc

The other that i know of will be a map of my own design but it could be any bombed village in europe

Despite being a bombed village it will have a very unique layout

I am also leading my own ww2 mod using the hl2 technology but my mod will be a bit more unique

Indeed, but according to the DOD requirements a computer of those specs should run the map fine. Doesn't matter if the computer is outdated or not, you have to map to the requirements of the game.

there are 2 sites in there that you can get your images hosted.

Alright thx for the links, but the guy that hosts em for me came back online a few minutes after i posted, i might use those links later though

Anyway, i added a few things to the river area such as a tank and jeep model on the bridge and a particle system for the waterfall

I added the 2 new pics to the first post so go there, check em out and tell me what you think

Well i just did a full compile of the map (vis) to check the r_speeds

Currently most of the map is around 650-750 WP and the highest i got was around 950 WP in certain points in the map where there should not be any traffic at all

The EP count throughout the whole map is pretty low

I was actually suprised to see the WP in the river area be so low (under 700)

So all is going well, i just need to make a few adjustments then i will be pretty much done with the brushwork, after that i will finish up the entity work then have a few play tests to get all of the balance right and to make sure there are no major bugs before i release it ( I dont want to have to release a bugfix version the next day like i did with hill_clasic  )

As soon as landschaft is finished it is on to my beachmap ;)

is it possible after all ?
