When you look at CS models in HLMV, on the "Sequences" panel, you see that CS animations are put in a different order and are named differently than the anims in DoD models. For example, if you try to replace the Tommy with an MP5, you might get the MP5's anims in this order [I'm just guessing, here]:

1. idle1
2. idle2
3. longidle
4. reloadfull
5. reloadempty
6. shoot1
7. shoot2
8. place-holder

Or something to that effect.

But since DoD was coded to look for the Tommy's anims, it's asking for something like this [again, just guesses, for the sake of examples]:

1. idle
2. reload
3. shoot1
4. shoot2

Asking for the Tommy's anim number 3 would get the MP5's anim number 3, which in this case is a long idle anim. Instead of asking for anims by name or intended use, the HL engine calls on an anim in a certain position in the list [number 1, number 2, et cetera].

It's because they use different animation sequences. Now here's my question. Why the hell would you do that in the first place?

Considering how many "modern weapon" threads there are, that question's a little moot by now, I'm thinking. Just support and encourage. They'll come around eventually.

Also, names dont matter for the sequences. Internally HL always goes by their index number so the order they appear in the MDL is whats important.

You can rename the seuquences what you like.
