Well although i have not spoken with him for a while, Polygon was intrested in skinning my Mk II sten when the meshes where ready. So i will be seeing if his intrested still, and if he's not, then because a few of you seem intrested in putting a skin on this, which is pleasing to know, i will release the meshes.

All being well, Jed has offered to mesh some of me models, these include the sten mkII and Mk V aswell as the bren and lewis...:). Which i think he will make a start on after the next release of his HLMV.

This still leaves the

PAIT
Webbly
Enfield
Knife
Mills Nade

To be meshed.

You probably need custom reload and hold animations since there are no weapons in dod with a foregrip.

MaRzY

Yeah i realize that, i will probably sort the anim's out myself, although i will release 2 versions of the mk v, one with foregrip and one without, because not all Mk V had a foregrip.

Infact i will probably release a Sten pack, that includes.

Sten mk II with a choice of two stocks.
Sten mk V one with foregrip and one without.

Go on, you know you want to finish the lewis gun first? lol

Sounds good btw, haven't seen any totally new sten gun models for a while so this will be a welcome change.

Iīd definately prefer a model with a foregrip - just because it would be different to all other stens out there atm.

Please don't do the HL FOV thing, only DoD has been using that and it doesn't look all that good.

If the models really got distorted, I'm sure plenty of other people would have already been doing it, but I only see DoD doing it.

It looks very nice. I have an idea for the position/origins of the weapon. Maybe you could tilt it to the right. Not to much, but just enough so when your playing you can see how he's holding it.

Just an idea, the model looks awsome. Good Work!

Thanks for the feed back, it's great to see a few of you intrested in skinning this model. I will be sending these and some of my other british weapon models to Jed for meshing over the next few days.

I'm not sure i agree Sgt.Sinister, here is a pic of the mk5, with a temp mesh and half hacked skin, thats well out of line, but what i'm trying to show you in this pic, is the model has been edited for FOV, although far more then the dod default method. I've tried to make the model look less destorted, and more like the real view i think you would see in real life.

Ok this model is still very much work in progress, and i don't know if it will end up like this screen, because i'm still playing around with it.

I can only sit here at the min, and wonder what this model will look like with new meshes and finished skins, that show off the edges and bring out the detail of the model, i can't wait...:).

Well, if that un-finished pic is anything to go buy..i can't wait either!!

did you skin that yourself?...it looks really good so-far

MaRzY

No the skin is not mine, it's just a temp half hacked poly skin i've just slapped on untill Jed remeshes the model, and then new skins will be made. Polygon did want to skin the model though when i last talked with him, which was sometime ago. But i will be getting in touch with him when the meshes are finished, to see if he's still intrested. If he's not then i hope to maybe turn to other good skinners in the community to give me a hand.

Rotkopf: If you want, i'll hack you up one without the foregrip after it's released..

Rotkopf
09-08-2003, 03:16 PM
No! Thanks, but I love the foregrip... thatīs truly something different to all the sten models out there. Looking good, and please use that fov method - the guns actually look like real ones instead of toy guns.

Any update? I really would like to see this released.

MaRzY
09-15-2003, 07:43 PM
Well i converted the default dod anim's to fit the Mk5, which i sent to Jed, and he's tweeking them, or maybe changed them, i'm not sure because i've not seen the tweeks or changes yet. Jed tells me he's nearly finished the meshes, so as soon as there done ill get them sent to a skinner.
