They look great, I'm definately using them, just a question though. I notice that they have the same little rank and patch .bmp as Ska's allies do. How exactly do I use it to change the patch? With Ska's, I would extract the .bmp with HLMV, paste the patch I wanted on it, then import the new texture with HLMV. The problem is that when I import the new one it leaves the background un-transparent, so there's a big black rectangle under the patches. I want to put the 101st patch on these for personal use, but I can't get it to work =/

Make sure the background colour is the last colour in the palete and then use jed's version of HLMV to set it as transparent.

There must be something I'm doing wrong. I did everything you said, and it still doesn't work. I set the background to be blue and set it as the last color in the palette, but it still leaves a blue rectangle behind the patchs when I import it again, whether the transparency box is checked or not. I must just suck or something =/

Very nice. Its obvious that you put a lot of effort into these. I can't wait for your Brit commandos. Keep up the good work! :)

ok these models don't have helmets flying off.My previous models had helmets flying off so now if helmet should fly off i have 2 helmets :1 on the player's head and the 2 on the ground. What to do?

You should find a model in you folder called 'null'. copy this and rename it to 'para_helmet' or whatever it is and overwrite the old model. Now no helmet will appear on the floor if the solider gets hit by nade or headshot.

very nice. I like them a lot.

hey Ska, thanks for handling that helmets flying off thing, I kinda did not mean for them to be able to fly off at all(they are strapped on I mean, right :)? well not all of them are strapped on, but you know what I mean...err...um...I'm new here cut me some slack huh?). Otacon, the transparency thing, yeah I was having a few problems with that myself. What I did when I was rebadging stuff was after exporting from HLMV and opening that in photoshop, I did not convert the picture to RGB, I left it as an indexed bmp. Then I dragged and dropped as usual from there, and the new imported badging worked out fine for me. This should I think work for you too cuz the 101st and 17th have sort of similar colors. Otherwise, you could go into the color table and assign colors that could work with 101st. Main thing though that I avoided was converting to RGB at all. I dunno, the other way should work but for me it didn't so I did it this way. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how to do that. I use fireworks, and I don't have photoshop. I guess I'll have to wait and see it someone else does it =P They're still great. And they look cool with the bazookas, in my opinion anyway.

I'll do it for ya, just gimme a day or so and I'll have it up for you to download. :)

The models are great, I like them alot!

If you would like some constructive critisism for a possible future update, the spade should be removed from the helmets. It specifically signifies the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st.

Here (http://www.toppots.net/field_markings.html) is a good link for alot of U.S. WW2 helmet markings.

Do you want to make a version without the un-opened parachutes on the back? :D

09-04-2003, 05:45 AM
Paras without the parachute stuff was actually gonna be a project for me sometime (with equipment like a flashlight and some other stuff) after the Brits I'm working on now but I'm doing a quickie fix with just the default equipment for someone else and I'd be happy to provide the link if you'd like(it'll be done sometime this weekend - sorry, just busy with school).

On another note, thanks for pointing that out Arsenal, that's a good site and I'll be sure to fix that kind of stuff next time (I had just jacked those helmets off of defaults). :D
