Mapped by Hawk

June, 1942, Africa/Lybia (near the border to Egypt)


25th June 1942
A little group of german Afrikakorps-Scouts found
50 kilometres near of the egyptian border
a secret egyptian Temple.

A couple of days later....

Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel is ordered by the high
command of the Axis to steal all precious
objects from the temple, in order to transport them to Berlin.
There is a very powerful diamond : The "Eye of the Pharao",
a diamond which is surrounded by myths and rumours which
claim that this beautiful diamond is cursed with demonical
powers and magic.
If Adolf Hitler is able to get his hands on this artifact,
it is very possible that he could try to abuse its power
in order to defeat his enemies!


Allied Objectives:
- Get the Pharaoeye and prevent the Axis from bringing
it to Berlin!

Axis Objectives:
- Destroy the Cromwell tank who block the Exit of the Temple
and escape with your comrades to the next airport under
Axis control!

Just tested:

1) Huge r_speeds. I mean very huge
2) Bad vertex manipulation work
3) Boring outdoor area

Few areas looked pretty nicely build but the map little disappointed me.

I agree with skdr. R_speeds nearing 2000 in some areas, player-killing traps and some sticky-points where I had to use noclip to get away.

Beyond the reports the of bad r speeds, i did like the pic 6 looked like a great place for axis to set up a defense and prevent allies from getting in. I have not downloaded it yet.

The screenshots look great, but the gameplay itself is the opposite. I keep getting stuck in spots, and the traps, well they are very annoying. With some work the gameplay could be better, but all in all I was a little disapointed.

I think it's a nice map. Something different then your average dod_caen, dod_koln, etc., etc., which all look a bit the same (texture wise). It looks nice and has a nice layout.

This map has some minor flaws, like getting stuck near the dead German soldier, but also playability wise. Why not make all the scaffoldings accessible? It’ll give the map more nice sniper spots/ MG-spots and thus more tactical teamplay.

Please keep on working on this map. This could be a winner!

Now the map is goodlooking, Ill give you that, but its the gameplay that matters, and 2000 in r_speed isnt acceptable.
I scraped a map that had 1300 ...

I don't know what R-speeds are. I am not a mapper or what so ever. Never been, never will be (eh... never say never! Heheh! ;)) I just like the map, the idea behind it. I leave the technical part to you. :D

This map just seems to be running fine on my computer with 20 SturmBots. I am currently working on some waypoints.

(You now what… I am going to find out what the hell R-speeds are!)

Well, one search made the r_speeds clear to me. Now i know why i don't have a problem and people with less powerfull computers do...

Yep, kheldon you are right. High r_speeds is a bad thing. Everybody should be able to enjoy a map.

I love it, it goes nicely with the desert commandoes. But I do agree we really need an INdiana Jones model ( i think there was one for 1.3b) Just a few sticky spots but other than that its just fine.

It reminds me of my first MP effort, the unreleased de_pest; and some Quake 2 LOTWs on Planet Quake.

That was getting to grips with MP gameplay for me... and learning how to make a large gamplay area, while also learning about the bedreaded r_speeds in MP.

Try using CLIP brushes (invisible walls to stop the player going to places where they can get stuck), NULL textures and HINT brushes.

found a HL Indiana Jones model...just searched on google for "Half-Life models". Made by some "Christopher...or Creth" it appears. It's on this page -> http://www.creth.com/christopher/hl_models/hl_models.htm
