Idea: Copy-and-Pastable Unit Patches

Just something I just thought of a few minutes ago:
How about a BMP library of the unit patches of the famous units (and the obscure ones too) in WWII? This way, if someone really likes a skin but wants to change the unit badge, all they would have to do is open up paint and paste the patch into the skin and export to HLMV, thus replacing the old one. I think this would especially make the "Generic" skins have more realism. I don't know how much work this would take, but I suspect it's only a matter of finding the badge and shrink-wrapping it. Smatter of fact, I would do it myself but have zero skinning skill. Soooo.... is this possible? If so, will anyone do it?

Oh it's defanitly possible (aaag, bad spelling). Just got to make sure all the patches are the right size, which is a problem if you are converting one patch to another (3rd ID to say the 29th) , your new one might be smaller then the old, so you would have to fill in the space where the old patch shows thru.

That'll make it a ***** for custom player models. Well, right now you can. Just take out the unit insignia, if any, and replace it with what you want.

yeah, well, the insignia is in a BMP with lots of other stuff.
but if it were a single BMP file, it would be a lot easier.

Look at my US pack and you'll notice that the rank cheverons use transparencies. This basically means that you can easily paste a Unit badge above the cheverons and turn the pack into whatever unit you want. Someone has already made a 78th inf (i think) version of my pack.
So yes, it is possible and has in fact already been done.
As for unit badges here's a really good site Toejam showed me that you might find useful.

Try atthefront.com's unit patches, they look less MS paintey.
How about the real thing? This site's pretty good, too.

I tried exporting the bmp, adding a patch, then importing it, but then the transparency goes away and theres a big black rectangle on the arm with the patches on top of it =/
Oh, also, where do those Ranger's battalion scrolls at atthefront.com go on the uniform and is there anywhere else I can get a more high res image of one?
