I initially started writing this application just to see if I could figure out how to convert .MAP files to a set of faces but it quickly grew into an application for fast, accurate previewing of .MAP files.

Some pics:

Textured, Solid, Wireframe and Point render modes.
Tree representation of world objects.
Entity attribute viewing.
Special texture hiding (sky, hint, skip etc.).
Brush outlining.
Entity, Brush and Face selection and highlighting.

Ya I realize that, but as I said before I made it mainly because I was bored and wanted to figure out how…

I don't map so I don't have Hammer installed, but I could use this to view a map without having to fire up a LAN game ??...

Given it's small download size it seems like a tool for nonmappers...

Altought the take some KB only, they need hefty 24MB Microsoft .NET framework. Maybe that's problem.

Ya, if you’re getting a failed to initialize error that is the reason. MAP Viewer views .map files, it'll set itself up so for some reason if you wanted to view them you could. If you want to view BSP files you need BSP_View though.

mebe if you could get entitys to move like theey are coded and make textures transparnet, all render modes etc) it would be usefull, seeing something like a complicated env_train moving around like it would in game would be usefull. its not that much use now but if you ported some features to it, it could be a handy to check out certain things.
