Wierd map problem

THis has never happened to me before I dont know why it is doing this. I create lets say a ladder, i apply the ladder brush to it, but when i compile it and view in game, the parts that are supposed to be clear are black, any clue?

Make the ladder-brush into a func_wall, with rendermode Solid and renderfx 255.

ah...sounds like some mapping 101 is needed.

u do also realise to make the lagger work you need to put a func_ladder there?

make sure its on a different brush to the ladder
and the texture is the aaa texture tooand all should be fine
