The snowfall looks like just you've put a scrolling texture on a not solid func_conveyor with additive rendermode.
You know, there is actually a weather-particlesystem in DoD v1.0.
info_doddetect -> Weather Type -> Snow , done!

I'm liking the textures alot, plus I do agree that the particle system doesn't do enough snow. I'll have to check this out in-game to see if I like the scolling textures though. Everything looks good, and I already know the gameplay is solid GJ!

a true classic. contact me via email or icq #89454081 OR in our channel #dodmaps @ gamesnet/quakenet for a playtest if you want to. We can run it on our custom map server and I´ve got at least 10 or more willing tester to help out.

so how are you going to do this? make the allies spawn with their weapons? or make them steal them from the germans?

Thanks for the playtest offer, Rotkopf - I will take you up on it. There have been some major changes to the map that will affect gameplay, so it needs putting through the mangle to discover any bugs or game imbalance.

Quakah - The Allies spawn with just a knife. I have placed Axis weapons only throughout the map, and this is one issue that I would like a playtest to concentrate upon.

Tolchok, in future, when u preview a map, dont post photos, cos those are clearly real photos of some buildings, do u think we are all stupid :)

I forgot to mention a couple of things.

First, I've been tied up for about two weeks trying to make the cablecars (func_trains) work properly. I tried hundreds of different combinations to stop the func_train from starting at its destination path_track instead of its starting path_track, and then moving off outside the map. Eventually, by luck I found the problem - which turned out to be a trigger_push brush assembly that 'moves with' the func_train. Once removed it worked perfectly. The purpose of this trigger_push was to keep players in the cablecar from touching the castle side of the car when it moves out of the station - there was a problem with players being killed in a rare but random fashion with this func_train bug.

Second, I have (hopefully) reduced the attraction of camping the Axis spawn exits. There are now autonomous machine guns protecting the short hallways that terminate in the Axis spawn doors. In addition to this, there is now an exit from the Axis spawn straight into the courtyard.

Festung, easily one of the best maps of all time!

Genious of you to updated it to 1.0, because I know alot of people have been asking for it to be updated. Happy to see it done. Can't wait to play this agian! :D

Thanks for the offers of playtest help and mirrors. I'll try to keep you all informed of who's hosting the playtests and when. I'm rendering what will hopefully be the final version now, so if it turns out ok, I'll get it distributed to interested parties and the playtesting can commence :)

Sly Assassin - The crate textures are my own. If you can wait a short while, I'm going to release a .wad file after Festung is finished. I previously said I would do this but never got round to it.
