I'm sure you've played dod_railroad once in your Dod-history.
This is a rework/update to railroad, with added balance and whatnot. The map is being played in alot of leagues, so I'm sure you will find a couple of servers running it ;)

Thanks to Veridian and skdr for hosting the map.
And special thanks to skdr (again) for making that really cool
overview :)

he released b1 to the clan community but there were some problems we gave him, he released this one and there are still some problems some of the same ones that just need to be tweaked...

good map though insta, keep reading up on 1911 to see what needs to be fixed :)

lol, i checked that 1911 thread, on the first page, it was all "nice map insta" and "cool" i went straight to the 11 page and ppl were saying others were inferior and wall this bs.

Sweet map insta, me lieks a lot. IMO the two best custom maps for 1.0 just came out(the other being campagne) so i'm in heaven. The fun part for me was running through the level then thinking what the place looked like in the first railroad, brings back good memories. The only thing I would like to suggest is having a better texture for the railroad cars, cuz currently i'm not feeling the love. ;)

Haha, some people have a bit of a ego over there. :)

And yes, I'm looking for a new texture for the railroad cars. They look rather plain and uninteresting right now. I'm sure I'll find something nice in some wad ;)

btw2. That crash bug on startup you're getting (read from 1911). Remove the ambience or make it trigger after team/class select. That should do it :)

Is this the final rev for RR2? I played dod_railroad_b1, and now I see it's dod_railroad_b2. Do you expect a dod_railroad_b3? Or are you just starting to work on dod_railroad3?


P.S. This map ****ing rocks. Keep up the fantastic work. And to all those who haven't played it, do so. It's like an hour long heart attack.

I have strange feeling that it some railroad1 prealpha version. Layout may be a bit better but lighting, texture selection and some brushwork looks like first map of him. Railroad1 had some gameplay glitches but overall looked way much better.

Game play on the first railroad was outstanding.

Game play = 10!

Visuals on the other hand arent so wonderful. I think the map could use some background visuals, buildings in the distance etc..

Not a big deal though, since it plays so well. I only wish it was more visualy apealing.

visually appealing isnt really a big concern... if the map is fun and great to play... who gives a damn what your looking at. :D

I meen take dod_hobofire... that was the best map ever... but it looked like crap...

Railroad looks much better the hobo and it also playes damn well... so all in all... Railroad kicks ass

I downloaded the orignal railroad map and I thought, wow, this is really tight CQC (tight as in lack of space). I like how you opened it up more all around the map, especially in the Allie spawn. My eyes went crazy and confused with I first spawned. Any way, I like the new version better. I notice that one can actually get in the fountain and on 1911, I suggested to have the fountain like dod_zalec, where you can get into it. I would not change that part of the old RR map. Hiding in fountains is fun! Other than that, great map!

your map won't run on ym computer. it gives me an invalid surface extents error when I try run it.

I have this problem wiht another map aswell dod_stadkampf.

I have no clue what causes it but so far its cut me off 2 maps ad I'm getting mroe pissed every time it happens.

Its usually caused by textures being sacled too large or too small, ocasionally it is caused by wierd brush-work.

as one of the long time community members i think you could give me a little more intelctual credit there buddy.

the porblem is it only happens for me. it dosnt happen for anyone else. if it was a bad texture or weird brushwork it would affect everyone. Seeing as the textures are imbeded in the map it has to be something my side to do with VID card drivers. seeing as how I've changed both and it sitll happens. I don;'t know whats causing it.

It's a bug with sturmbot...remove sturmbot and try again...
