DoD_Eruptio:
A fictional quest of which you can either side with the illustrious United State's Armed Forces or grab a steady German rifle and mount up with the evil Axis. The choice is yours. Adventure through windy curves of dark caves. Blast holes in walls to find secret paths through the deep darkened cave you find your self respawning in. The ultimate goal is to take ground, with the a full arsenal of either side. The United States is to take the ground which the Axis has well fortified with cannons and the wonderful pound sounds of the mg-42 at extremely well placed firing positions. If you find yourself in no-man's land, you will be laying face up passing through the rainy skies of the vast world of war. Good luck, and God bless, and by all means break through to fight another day.

Umm yeah... but this is MUCH darker than other maps. I can hardly see a thing.

Have you even used light_environment?

How do you get the damn thing to work in the beta though, pitch and roll don't even work!

Also, if it's a trench map will it be a Brit map limited to riflemen/grenadiere?

nope its gonna me allied, all weaps. vs axis all weaps... and the map will be dark, unlike most maps that are out, they make it out to be that war was only fought during high noon... when infact it was hardly ever that way

Well, even new moons arn't completely pitch black, and the war wasn't fought every day on a new moon either, at least give us a glimpse of light so we don't fall off a ledge or get bayonetted by a "gamer" who has his monitor and gamma cranked up. I would most definatly be classified as a "gamer", and I leave my monitor at default settings because A.) It's the way the game was meant to be played, and B.) So bright areas don't make me go blind.
*edit*
Also, I think you mean American, USA doesn't stand for the United States of Allies.

whatever... i appreciate the criticism even tho it was a bit on the sarcastic side... ill do what i can

07-22-2003, 02:25 PM
Ok, what you call "gamer" I call "cheap @#$%". I have my monitor set up so pure blakc is pure black, pure white is pure white, and grayscale is the colours inbetween. took me damn ages to do and I'm not changing it so I can play a map by someone who wins the award for being super cheap. This is just me being honest to you about my opinion. I'll be objective about grading your map when I can actually see the damn thing.

you know i dont need criticism from some people who havent really done anything with there so called talent. So u can take your ******* criticism, and stick it right up where it came from. You people make me sick, i dont see anything u made thats any different. So i dont wanna hear your bs anymore. If u want to give me constructive criticism do so, if not stfu and leave it be

You probably haven't seen anything from me because I haven't released anything, I'm just toying around with ideas to get the hang of mapping.

sry about that sekt0r. I've been a bit perma grouchy at the moment and I didn't mean to use that post as an outlet. SRY!!!

Heres what I have to say though: You had some nice work you were hiding with the light level there. it all looks really ncie and is a great job. You won't belive this but I'm going to say turn the light down. you want a night map I can accept that I never said don't. but pitch black is horrible to people who don't crank brightness, keep it at a level where you can see form of shape moving in the dark without your monitor beings cranked. make sure you have some bright lamps and such. they each knew each other was there so they wouldn't be trying to hide. to much in some places. If your having a waterfall your water looks to much of a contrast to it, trying making it partially see through with render mode: texture.

I think the revamped pictures look REALLY nice. Looks like alot of fun and a change from the bombed out citys. Resembles Forest and I LOVE that map because it is so different. Real nice job :-D
