for those of you who wanted these for normal play can do so by renaming these to "axis-inf.mdl" and it should work just fine.. i made every class with its own body and equipment so nothing is shared.

oh damnit theres one thing i forgot to include in the zip.

see, i made the models so that the helmets dont come off. because no bullet in real life is gonna knock a helmet off like that. specially when its strapped on. and also for variety.

i forgot to include the null model, renamed as the FJ para helmet.

but its easy for any of you to do your selves:

take the null.mdl and rename it to helmet_axis_para.mdl this way, you wont have helmets flying out of thier heads for no reason.

and its simple as that!

Finally, something to replace my crappy winter fallschirmjager set that I've been using for months :D

Too bad the helmets don't fly off, that's just a neat effect that I can't get over. I may have to 'fix' that for my own use. You've done some good work here, and I doubt that another set will be replacing these for me anytime soon. That is, until I finally get around to finishing my Folgore set.

I think what Sclass is getting at is the Luftwaffe eagle is reversed, ill have to check it. I doubt Con made a mistake like that

*EDIT* hollycrap hes right! Con the eagle logo on the helmet needs to be facing the other way.

sclass if you dont like it reverse them yourself till they are good... open the models up in half life model viewer... export helmet texture... select the logo in photoshop or something and mirror it... import the helmet texture and save it... fixed

Umm, I have to be with Sclass on this one. I don't think he was trying to be rude or anything at first. Seems to me he was simply pointing out an error in the helmets. I mean, stuff like this happens, even with beautiful models like these. Yes, it's a minor detail, but there's no harm in pointing the little things out. Jesus.

Great models, and the extra camo smock for certain classes REALLY make this pack stand out. It gives each player a very different look, and is done VERY well.

I doubt there are going to be any packs replacing this for a long long time. And the thing about the helmet logo being backwards, no biggie, I just reversed it in photoshop, and I'm going to attach it.

you made a good point, although theres no need to be a nitpicker, but you made a valid point. i for one do everyhting according to historical accuracy. i took that eagle from a photo, then did some major editing in PS. i figured scince it was a photo, that this was the way the eagle was supposed to be pointing. but its only a minor mistake.. no biggie; no need to go on about it. just state your point and ill get to it when i can.

LoL! i was going to render a scene JUST like that with my axis paras and my 82nds! im glad im not the only one who noticed they looked like the BOB paras. i used Triggers color plates for referance.

Nice work. I will fix the helmet texture by myself so I donīt really care about this mistake. The only big problem is, that Iīve to find the other player models with nearly the same quality. That is really difficult.

yeah, when all the modding tools come out for the scource engine im definately going to continue with customizing. specially for DOD if its ever modded for HL2 (speaking of wich, i heard from a reliable source that something about DOD2 was leaked. and that it IS infact underway. but dont take my word for it)

modding for such a great engine will really open up some great opportunites, because ill have a hell of alot more options to toy with. not only that, but the texture size limit has now been raised to 2000X2000... can u imagine that kind of quality? good thing ill have a comp thatll be able to handle such a game..

Wow, these are absolutely amaznig! I haven't played with them yet, but I'm downloading them now.

Luftwaffe soldaten are my particular interest as far as the Axis go, so do you think you could work on some more stuff along that line, or are you going to switch and do some Allied stuff?

One question, how do I fix the helmets? I downloaded the fix but it was a .bmp file. What do I do with it? Thanks for any help you can give, guys.

im not too keen on other luftwaffe divisions or like the luftwaffe infantry.. im more educated on the Heer soldats and waffen SS. i did however take the time to study up on Fallschirmjager, i wanted to make sure everything was accurate. minus that one mistake Sclass pointed out, wich wasent a big deal anyway,

right now im making plans for yet another american airborne set.. and then mabey axis infantry set.. dunno well see what happens ;)

and you can add the helmet texture with Half Life Model Viewer. import the texture; go here http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ to get HLMV.

nice models/skins, but my only suggestion is that you could have downsized some of the texture sizes considerably. 512x512 texture maps are far too big for something as insignificant as gloves or boots(maybe 256x256, but definitely not 512x512). a little optimization can go a long way.

but overall, good work. your models hold a monopoly over my player models folder.

thats actually something that ive learned to do from now on. i had some problems compiling these at first becuase alot of the textures were too big. i figured the bigger the better, but i know now that i dont NEED every texture to be 512x512

Rename them from axis-para.mdl and axis-paraT.mdl --> axis-inf.mdl and axis-infT.mdl and put them into your axis-inf directory.

that wont work, the submodelling for paras and infantry isnt the same. youll have a bunch of ghosts running around.

when i find the time, ill see if i can make them for normal play. :)

Ok, it is a very easy process, but you are going to need a small freeware program called HLMV. just run a search on google for Half Life Model Viewer.

After you take care of that and install it, unzip your new models and put them in a temp folder with the new texture .bmp (to save time).

Next, open the program, go to File and then open the axis_para.mdl (not the T.mdl). You should see the para soldier standing there in the black area.

Now use the Texture button at the bottom. You should see a drop-down menu with all the textures listed. Scroll through until you find the helmet, which I believe is called falshirmjager.bmp in this case. Rename your new helmet texture to that, then press import. Look in your temp file and open the new .bmp, and viola!

Now save your model and you are ready!

Thanks guys for the replies on the changing of the helmet, I will have to try this out!

Anyway, just to support this model, I took some screenshots from jagd, and thought I'd post them here. I can't say enough how much I love these models. Fallschirmjager are my favorite, and these are the best FJ models out there. I will try to get some more action type screenies later on, these are just generic up close to medium range pics of the gear and faces.

The only problem I see with these guys, is that the texture on the trenchcoat obviously mirrors in the back. It wouldn't be a problem if it was a fairly solid color, bit with such a stark camoflage pattern it's quite visible.

And what, you don't have any other trenchcoat models? Trenchcoats without such shortcomings? Perhaps trenchcoats that some other person has made? That could easily be modified to suit your puropses here?

well i was messing around with you're skins russ and just felt that thes skins (and nixon's para skins) were a bit "bright" so i took all the skins and i was fiddling around with them in photoshop. so i open up the saturation window and set it to -10 and vua la!!! it looked so nice on the faces that i decided to switch every single model i had to -10 saturation and they look really nice. it makes it easy on the eyes since they're not so bright and they look a bit more realistic because of it!:D

:UPDATE:

for those of you who wanted these for normal play can do so by renaming these to "axis-inf.mdl" and it should work just fine.. i made every class with its own body and equipment so nothing is shared.

dodamn amazing man Russ Conscript comes yet with another amazing set! a question though why can a guy like you do this and a paid professional developement team such as EA or Activision make crap like Bf1942?

Because they have to make their models with lower end machines in mind, and therefore can't make their models incredibly high poly/res. It's not that they aren't capable, it's just that the system requirements that would result would cause much lower sales than they'd probably want.
