Yay - I meshed it myself, it's probably the worst mesh ever made, lets see if anyone can skin from it, or hack on a skin, suit yourself.
Ill put the Default animations on it later.. Bye.

Hey Marks!! Been a while since we've talked. Well, i love ur models, and, im glad i finally have the opportunity to skin one. I had a few minutes to work, so, i got the wood done. BTW, i make all my skins from scratch, so, no downloaded textures were used on the wood, and it probably shows because it doesn't look that great, haha. Well, lemmie know what u think. If u don't like what u see, tell me, and i won't make ur beautiful tommy look bad from my skins ever again. :)

Hell yeah! Amazing work.
Good job learning "meshing"! Constructive criticism: the last mesh has a lot of wasted space. It would be perfect if the handle and the stock were their own meshes.

Cool /me wants
:) im skinning this too... just for the practise, since im not such a good skinner
its not finished yet, and some things look the way they arent cuz of the lighting in milkshape
work on your lighting (light source/dodges/burns) and your textures. the holes in the magazine are too big also

fianlly a good thompson! i have already started skinning it :D
Two things I noticed you might want to fix Marksman, the forearm should get thinner, height wise, towards the end of the barrel, it's the other way around right now. Forget to flip something back maybe? Also, the selector switches are out a bit too far. That's my only real problem, I hope to see some excellent skins, guys.

here was my go at it....still, simple, just material textures mapped on :) but eh :)
p.s. edited the model JUST a tiny bit :)

Your skin looks a bit bland Preston, I think the metal could use more detail. One thing I always thought looked neat was when a scratched look was 'frosted' onto the metal.

i know what ya mean, im thinking of making it lighter for starters, and changing the wood a tad...but you would be suprised at how simple this skin is if you looked at the mesh lmao :) but yah, i can see what ja saying

the model looks awsome, and blockbusters skin looks very nice. Just a little request, could someone put a longer barrel on this model (maybe marksman) because I like the look of a tommy which has a prity long barrel after the wooden grip.

Edit for my last post:
Maybe it would be easier just to shorten the wooden grip, so that the barrel is alittle longer :D

This thread remainds me of awhile back, on the old forums. Polygon released a m1 garand, few days later there were like 10 separate threads about re-origins about that same model
This thread, altough all in the same thread has like 5 or more skins for the same model. All have their positive and negative things on it. New skinners get good critism which they can use to improve from other skinners whom have been doing this for longer.
Great to see this happening on forums, makes me come here more then one time a day.

I have skinned this, but I don't have any idea how to convert it to a .mdl, and I don't have milkshape or 3DSMax. Could someone please upload the mdl? :) Pretty please?
