Bloody hell how hard is it to get credit for your work these days?

Half-way down the first page, second post by Mr.Cojones Mc Clane - dont those faces look awfully familliar?

Ok, my Spanish is rough but it takes "acquiesCe" to point out that their my faces lifted from my airborne models.

Well they do say at the bottom of the page that they are yours...

Yeah I saw that bit, just narked me a bit that the original poster didnt even give a credit for the faces.

I'm just an old git and bitter that out of 2075 downloads of my pack I only got two donations.

Now I'm never going to be able to retire in comfort! :mad:

And get used to it. I was pissed off at first when people didn't credit 2Krauts, but what can you do? As long as they aren't taking credit for the work, It's all legit, even though you should always give proper credit.....Be it hosting someones work to hackjobbing their work.

i see Gracias in McClanes post, that means 9 times outta 10 hes taking credit for Skas [Br.2nd] Pack :(

The models in those pics by McClane were made by me jed, and I did give you full credit for the faces.

i don't speak spanish so I have no idea wtf they are saying though.

I'll agree all it takes is a quick note to say who's work it was originally or who contributed. It's fair enough if you can't remember but you should at least say, "I apologise to the original creator but I can't remember who it was," and thank them for the work, maybe even say "I hope it's OK if I use these" 99% of the time that'll keep everyone happy.

I've been making my own custom command menus for the last few versions of DOD and I notice that parts of them are included in so many others. Mine are totally unique and completely restructured and largely written from scratch, so it's blatantly obvious when it happens. I know it says to feel free to modify it to suit your own tastes but the least they could do is stick a note in there mentioning me if they release it to others :(

Ah ok, its just one of the faces looked like one that I hadn't used before and only used int he airborne pack hence me thinking it was a hack job of my airbornos modellos.

Those models are my 2nd army pack I made bloody ages back. You already pulled me up on the skins for them when i released lol I thought they were made by klown, but you corrected me that they were yours.

Well, it's probably still right, odds are they just changed the names of the characters (on the show itself) to better fit a spanish-speaking audience. Wouldn't be a first, tons of American shows have odd names in the Spanish incarnations:
Examples:
The Jetsons = Los Supersonicos
The Flinstones = Los Picapiedras

And you're not missing anything particularly tittilating in that thread, it's mostly just "I really like your brits" "you should make some germans" and some tangents on other stuff. Basically the same stuff as over here, just in Spanish. :P

Don't know why, but this isnt the first time I see spaniards doing this kind of stuff, some dod and tod packs i've done in the past are on spanish websites with someone else's credits. Im not the kind of guy who usully cares about credits but I consider that abuse.

^Well, it's not like it doesn't happen even on these boards. You know all those skins using RTCW textures? Giving credit doesn't mean jack when on the official website a year or so ago, it was posted that they did not want ANYONE to rip their skins to other games. And yet how many times do we see the same high quality professionally-made faces from RTCW pop-up in new skins/hackjobs here?

Many people who "make" skins and models have no concept or no respect (I'm sure it differs between individuals) of intellectual property. I'm sorry if this a bit of a rant, but I find it particularly hypocritcal when a community gets uptight about other people stealing their work when other members of the community seeming get no flack for ILLEGALLY stealing work from other sources.

Blackheart73 first of all im portuguese wich means i live next door to spain. Secondly I love Spain and its people, even my neighbour and one of my best friends are spaniards.
You are taking conlcusions from things i didn't even said. Im constacting a fact, im not saying that that happens because they'r are from Spain, Im saying that happens alot in spanish websites.

Try to be a bit less agressive and stick to the topic.

reread yer post and you will see why i have chosen to write what i did. i didn't call you a racist. i simply stated that your statement smacked of it.

as for credits for IP, you really don't have much defence it sorta works on trust and honesty. like the old saying 'a locked door only keeps out the honest' so too does this apply to ones work when freely released.
