[WiP] dod_nuenen

Think u all like BOB and also the maps (Kehldon = dod_dayofdays, Stoffer = dod_coldline_v1 und a secret map also with Plato = dod_crossroads)

So Bleibringer and i decided to present you all our project: dod_nuenen
This map based on the BOB Part 4 - Replacements
This 3 screens are our first pics which we present you and hope you will like it. comments are welcome.

Man that looks very good, I really recognize some stuff from the series. :D

We should perhaps release BoB map pack when they are all done :p

Not bad, I would consider working on a more dramatic lighting when you're finished with the map though, this one works for now, but it really isn't eye catching like say, campagne. Andy got that lighting down perfect and that makes it all the better in the preview shots.

I'd also think about redoing the roof on the bell tower inn the church, the shape was not a simple pyramid in the real thing.

Keep it up though it looks like fun, you are getting the basic layout right I think I was watching replacements on HBO last night!

Looks very flat and boring. Maybe add some more terrain variation.

Like Mex said, more dramatic lighting would be cool.

U may have spelt the map name wrong. I think its neunen basically because its a german name. I know the map isnt set in germany u may just wanna double check ur spelling.
If im wrong, just slap me with a trout.

Hi all,

short statement about map progress:

Pics were shot after roundabout 3 hours of mapping, it´s just a "3D-sketch" ;) , lightning, textures, layout, etc. are absolutely pre-pre-alpha :)

Of course a lot of work to do...

More Pics to come.

BOB part 4 - Replacement based on the Operation: market garden which was in Netherlands. and the village is call Nuenen. watch the part :p

hmm, map looks very straight! maybe blei you should use more vertex and not corner curves!

@topic:
the lighting needs a lot of work (too squeeky bright). so do the textures (eww), so does the architecture (too flat and uninteresting).

bottom line= your map needs a lot of work.

Yeah, looks vert flat. And as said before the lighting sucks. But overall it looks pretty good and too early to post a WIP but oh well...Keep it up

Well in case you didn't know, the Netherlands mostly look like " _" and the highest "~" here is about 300 meters above sea level, and nowhere near Nuenen. So flat is okay for Nuenen.
One thing though, if you want to make houses look Dutch, use lots of brick textures Brick walls, houses and not to forget street pavement. Take a look at dod_stuka, I think it's made by dutchmen, and very well too.

Yea FLAT is okay!!

I can't understand why pple want "~" all the time.Get outside the streets and take a look around!! Do you see "~" all the time? No!! In fact, i see "-" most of the time! Thus flat is okay. Flat is realistic! Come to think of it, most "flat" maps have that realism feel somewhat, like those wargamey ww2ishness scenerio thingys and ofp thingies. To begin with, why make so many bumps on the ground when in reality a grass field is usually flat.

I guess subtle bumps would be okay....very subtle ones..kinda like in bump mapping for HL2.

flat is great, but if you dont want it to seem to flat, just slope it a tiny bit. you know somethin like down 8 units every 128. its amazing how much it stops your eyes seeing flat wihtout it being bumpy

I'm not talking about streets(dduuurr streets are flat). I'm talking about dirt, grass, and whatnot. Especially if its a country side map,(unless its construction), your not going to find perfectly flat dirt in many places.

please dont forget to add a cromwell, and a sound-file which appears if you pass the tank. it should say:
-"sir there is an german tank beside that house"
-"i caunt see him"
-"i tell you it is there, shoot that building and you'll see him right there"
-"if caunt see him i caunt shot him, my directions are no damage to civilian properties"

(yes that hidden german tank in that hay-thing shopuld be there also)

some guys post it was wrong to post the pics, because was looking like a pre-pre-alpha. k, maybe you are right but we thought it is a good thing to show you our progress.

Bleibringer and i work hard last days. we change the lightning, several textures, also we worked on terrain. atm we work on the e_polys.

Could use some new textures. Some better ones and I guarntee it would increase the visual quality 50x
