I'm VERY curious about this. In v1 the location for sand explosions sprite(s) is in \Program Files\Day of Defeat\dod\sprites\adrian ? why is it called ADRIAN? There's no one on the team called adrian, nor does that name bear any relevance to sprites? Anyone have any clues?

Boring, boring, and... boring. More boring than the games at that time? Without Wolfenstein and Doom and Quake, Half-life would have never be conceived and we would not have DoD today, simple as that

So? I'm not saying they're bad, I'm saying they're boring.

Why doesn't someone check the manual in DOD for anyone with the name Adrian?

Ah playing wolf with ablib sound, those were the days lol

I actually kinda like Duke Nukem lol Wasn't too keen on Quake, revoltionary though it was I jus never really got into it.

Terminator: Future shock was a great game that came out before Quake but got pretty much ignored.

Anyway, no idea who Adrian is lol

I don't know about Carmack. Seems like a whiner. Took him six months to code shadows in to Q2 with C++ when I know it can be done a lot quicker by other people, one of which I was working with at the time.

Then he crawled out of his little hole and *****ed and moaned that he never wanted to do shadows again.

No, I can't say I admire him as much as some people do. Those games were logical evolutions of gaming. If it hadn't been id Software, it would've been someone else we'd be singing the praises of.

Personally, for all three of those games' terribly singular vision and lack of any kind of variety [gelly blobs that had been used in countless console RPG's up 'til then and since? come oooon], they bored me too.

Half-Life was also a logical evolution of gaming. It was bound to happen at some time or other.
