This is my first ever attempt at modeling...done without any tutorials or anything so there are probably about 101 things wrong with the model

but just wanted to see what you guys thought.:)

i counted 107 wrongs with your model...lol jk

Hopefully you are going to fix the blobiness. You may think you suck, but keep trying and you might turn out to be the best modeller EVAH. So keep up the work, dont stop

But i hope you keep trying and soon youll be a household (well, to use DOD geeks anyway) name.

And i hope you make a good colt model, cuz i want to replace the one i have badly.

Good luck:)

that reminds me of a 1911-shaped shoe box

You know, you can use that flatness to your advantage. You can turn it into a Polish Radom pistol:

Besides, there's like 234,816,295,013.04553 colts out there.

that would be kinda neato.

It'll be different. I like different.

all I hear from people is it sucks. well... yes it does, but the problem is that 2 sides of the gun are flat, fix that, and its not that bad. and im not saying im much better than you, because I quit modling when i couldnt figure out how to compile

Come on, anybody can compile

06-24-2003, 05:25 AM
Dear God, it's easier compiling than modeling itself, you have to be seriously demented or just an idiot

06-24-2003, 11:03 AM
hey heres an idea, make that ur base, then Cut into it to shape the model, kinda like sculpting. :D

06-24-2003, 12:29 PM
i know it sucks..but you have to start somewhere right? I used vertex and face modeling thats why it looks so flat aswell...i could kinda do with some tuts on another, perhaps better way of modeling :)

Try using Gmax, Milkshape doesnt have much Features, but you probably cant get your model into dod from gmax

06-24-2003, 12:35 PM
ive got 3ds max but i dont have a clue what to do with it.. :(

It looks hard, its not

06-24-2003, 12:39 PM
Can you point me in the direction of any good tuts please.

I never used Tuts ever, Try to learn it yourself, because its not that hard, trust me. Its easier than Milkshape

06-24-2003, 12:51 PM
umm ok...ill look into it abit more :)

Help --> Tutorials
are the best u can find. Or maybe a book. 3d studio bible is pretty big. Also, there's tutorials at www.discreet.com, www.3dlinks.com and www.3dcafe.com.

You need Milkshape for compiling though. Export as .md3 from gmax, then import it with MS.
