1) whoa two posts and already you're getting demanding. rats dod map? try asking in a less "i want it now" attitude.
2) rats maps have been historically a cs type phenomenon. there has been no rats dod maps that i know of cause no one has been intersted in it enough to do anything. so if you really want one try making one, or befriend a mapper and convince them to make one (good luck)
3) ease up on the f-bombs kthx.
4) "barfcark" wth? rofl

I know most of the DoD players are "reality" freaks, and wouldn't really care for any Rats maps... However, a fun break from historic mapping might be just what some mappers need to spark the creative juices ... If the map was scaled to say a GI Joe action figure (3.5 inches) then it cold be set in a kid's room for example... Where the teams would seem like toys themselves and fight to get control of flags around the room... Toys or clothes on the floor could serve as obstacles and MG mounts instead of abandoned cars or sandbags... a pile of Legos instead of a pile of rubble.... The possibilities are nearly inexhaustable... Flag locations could range from Inside a toybox or closet to capping a flag at the top of Castle Grayskull.. lol...
<shrug> just a thought...

There are a few "fun" maps. But personally, I play DoD for the WWII aspect, that's the most fun for me. And mapping takes time, at least to create something of good quality. Most likely you could get the original mappers of fun maps you like to convert it.
Would be nice, it could look like those army toys in TOYSTORY..:-)

It would be super easy to make a player model pack of all green plastic looking skins...

That would be SO bloody cool.
Seriously, someone consider making a map like this - it could be immensely fun (as well as humorous).
Mappers GO GO GO GO!!..:-)

as long as there are enough things in the environment to keep it from being one, big open area (big open areas = kar and sniper ownage), then a rats for dod would be awesome. effexx your ideas are very nice
Why not make a childerens playroom, wif us as his toy-soldiers?
Then u can add all kinds off toy stuff that give us cover..?
Effexx

Yupp.. that was kind of the idea I was going for... It would seem as though the toys came to life and fought while the kid was away...
One team's spawn could be a shoebox full of toy soldiers, or perhaps a makeshift fort built out of wooden blocks like Lincoln Logs... Plastic looking toy tanks, and jeeps could be placed strategically for cover...
The map doesn't have to be one huge open environment... You could still find creative ways to "enclose" the fighting areas, and just make the skybox look as though you were in a huge room...
A pile of laundry could block off one side of the action... Perhaps the kid built a battlefield fenced in by various objects he had lying around... Wooden blocks... school books standing on edge... a Skateboard tipped on it's side... Shoes... Remember the maze of items and junk you stored under your bed as a kid? That could serve as an "inside" or "underground" type of area... With little suprises to add humor ( a stack of Playboy magazines) lol..
Seriously.. if you think about it.. this type of map has lot of possibilities... You just have to think like a kid.. lol..

Ok so this is probably way over my head since I have never done a map. But this is so awesome. I was playing on legoland last night and was inspired to start making these things. I think hill classic might work as a base line for this. At least layout wise.

I think this would be amusing.... it would be a nice breakaway from the usual bombed out town. CS has plenty of "fun" themed custom maps, why shouldn't DOD?
BTW - didn't somebody once make a map which was in a sand pit? YEAH!! I reckon I might have a bash at a mini sea side map; buckets, spades, sand castles and all!!!

just thought I'd share this
battle tactics for toy soldiers (http://www.thortrains.net/armymen/plaarmy1.html)
a quote from the main page
Things to do with Army men
Of course, the easiest thing was to have a war in a sand pile. You could also use the living room, with furniture being the landscape. Favorite variants were Army Men versus Dinosaurs, Army Men versus Spacemen, and Army Men having a war around the electric trains.
One could annoy Mom by adding Army men to the Yule village under the Christmas Tree. Moms tend to get upset when they notice a Panzer 5's barrel edging around the side of the little creche, or a Confederate sniper taking a bead on the Three Wise men. A proven way to raise a ruckus since I started doing it in 1960.
Anyone got sum ingame pics yet??..:-)

One thing that also contributes to Legoislands success is it's random MoH style respawn system. There's no definete place to spawn, so you have to be on your toes pretty quick. Especially when the server is with 20 people.
Maybe this can be implemented in the kid room themed map?
Anyone already working on this map?.. :D

how bout the kid has a computer and a few keys on the keyboard can be toggled. If you press use on this key, it will show this clip, if you press use on that key, that clip will be showed. And how bout a remote on one side of the room and a TV on the other and pressing use on the remote will turn the tv on.
jenga towers that can be destroyed by bazookas. and if theyre destroyed they create tons of jenga debree
Lego towns you can walk through
mirrors that have actual reflections! omg! HL2!
Kee, good ideas, now we need a mapper. :D
Anyone busy on this map? Or did it just die?

I created a web page that you upload your CS map, and it will rename and convert it to DOD type.
http://64.230.148.158/~gooofy/dodstuff/cs2dod/
It isn't perfect, and some maps won't convert.

I have a dod_muppet WIP in the background at the moment.
Its low priority - lower than my other (still WIP - I work when I have time :p); plus exams mean I spend all my time revising.
Yuck Human Resource Management yesterday! Horrible horrible.
My exams finish in 2 weeks, so I might finish then :P you never know!!

Since I've always liked the idea, and since I need something to get me back into mapping, I have started working on a map of my apartment that I am calling dod_cats (just to be different).
It will be a standard 'capture the flag' map that will probably end up with a similar feel to caen due to the way my apartment is designed. Players will be the equivalent of eight (8) inches tall, with full run of all rooms, closets and even the walls (as is proper for any good Rats map :D ). One side will spawn in the bedroom (posibly one of the closets) while the other will spawn in the front room at the oposite end from the bedroom.
I can't wait to see people battling for control of the furniture, kitchen, bathroom, computer area and third floor porch (don't fall off, now! ;) ). I haven't decided on exactly where the capture points will be, but it will be fun nonetheless.

I don't map for DoD, but I've had a project on the back burner for UT2004 similar to your Krenshala... I started it before UT2k4 came out... It's fun to recreate your living space, and see people running around in it.. I've been using my digital camera for photo realistic textures on everytthing... I've set the scale differently though.. Players are approximately 3.5 inches tall (GI Joe action figure sized)...

heh, sounds fun. ;) I might have to make people smaller depending on what it feels like once I get all hte walls in place. I'll post something in a few weeks once I get the brushes done and start texturing (using the HL crete4 texture only for now, and only looking at it in Hammer non-textured for now).
[btw, am i the only one that still thinks of the editor as Worldcraft?]

Wouldn't it be really cool if a modeler made a giant child model that say jumped and ran in and out the room. you had to avoid his/her feet so you didn't get crushed!
