Heya Iznogood,

Your brushwork is very nice indeed. Great job so far. :)

Murphy,

Did you honestly do any research at all? sword was a flat beach with a seawall, NO CLIFFS, NO BUNKERS. dude not all D-Day beaches are cliff faces. im too frusturated to go on

Research? LOL! Lighten up my dude friend! You seem to take things a tad too seriously.

Not all maps are historically correct...nor are they meant to be. In fact, I would venture a guess that you could find historical inaccuracies in every single dod map!

The sand in Anzio isn't that colour in real life!
The trees in Forest aren't like that in Europe!
There is no horse statue like that in the real life city of Caen!
The road in Havok goes no where! :)

Blah blah blah...

Try to remember this is a game, and people play for fun, not to see historical representations based on the HL engine.

true, but still, if you take the name of sword beach and map an omaha-like-map it's really not acceptable. With all do respect, he made a good job but calling this one sword, juno or gold beach is completely unaccepteable. You should leave those names for real mappers who want to make a real historical map. But anyway, if he names this dod_sword I wouldn't be bottered to map a historical correct map called that way.

Good comment Mr.Binary ;)
For your information Quakah, sword is not a beach, it's a sector of D-Day, and my map is on this sector.

I don't think you know what a sector it is :p but it's on sword beach really

07-11-2003, 12:37 PM
ok what ever. i said good brush work . so basiclly it all runs down to the name of your map! CHANGE IT

07-11-2003, 12:40 PM
one suggestion bout your cliffs, you should use a rock/cliff texture instead of a rubble texture

07-11-2003, 03:22 PM
I save your comments all ;)
Rename this map in -> dod_queen or dod_roger...
You choose ;)

Oh, yeah, and that CS map, Aztek! Psh! That's not what Aztek ruins look like! What a rip-off!

Yes, let's all flip out about historical inaccuracies in DoD all of a sudden.

That rubble texture on cliffs reminds me about doom1 :p
Looks good though

Looks like good fun even if it doesn't look like sword. Dod_roger should suffice. Oh yeah and you better put the brits on this or people will be  And what kind of objectives can I expect when I get to the top of the bluff, the standard flak88s and bunker affair? Keep up the good work, sex it up a bit more, and playtest it to death.

so what if he names it Sword... Someone else can make their map and name it SwordBeach or something else... To a person that doesn't care about historical accuracy they wouldn't even know that certain beaches were given these names... To them it probably brings to mind an image of a bladed weapon... It's not the end of the world...

Looks really good. Although ive never seen an 88 in a bunker..is that accurate?

07-12-2003, 05:57 PM
It does look very good man. :D

07-12-2003, 09:13 PM
having an 88 in a bunker isnt to accrate. mounted on top yes, but in no. In your sshot is a costal gun. you know the huge things that blow up battleships.

07-13-2003, 01:42 AM
yep is a costal gun but i'm not a modeler ;)
I use officials models only for the moment.
bye*

Hmm I don't know about the texture used on the cliff faces..

In many places, the map uses dark textures, but with bright lighting which looks a bit rubbish. Lighten up the textures (in photoshop), and use darker lights.

Also, I think theres some Half Life textures in there (though relatively few).

On your func_wall, make the render mode SOLID.
