Vandal's First EVER weapon skins!!

I woke up this morning and said.

"What a FINE day for skinning"

Thus it began, the downloading of about 9 trillion skins. Let the hackjobs/skinning/photoskinning begin!!!!

After 3 hours of screwing up I came out with something halfway decent. I took Dillinger's (I think he did it by himself, if not smack me.) Buttsmack Enfield and put some darkwood and darker metal on it. It looks CLASS!!! (Whoever did the animations, the bayo is long, thus that smack is way long. I advise you to have the guy kind of flip it around in his hands as the Garand does, pull it back a little and jab it up like he's going for the chin. If you do I'll re-release my reskin.)

I thought "WooHoo!!!!!"

So I took DevinKryss' (My favorite person ever :P) STG44, that awesome blackish one, and reskinned it with a lighter, blueish metal finish and a cool red cedar kind of wood that was already underneath the skin.

I thought "DOUBLE WHOOHOO!"

Then I took those coolish dual colts for the Greasegun (sorry I forgot who did them) and reskinned those badboys so they looked more like the colt in DoD and less like the guns in CS. These things look SICK!!!!!!!

If you want them, here's all three in a handy dandy .zip file. Extract it to your DoD folder and hit "yes" when prompted.

For the love of God, people never learn, those aren't re-skins, those are re-colors, nice work nonetheless.

Thoes are re-skins. The texture aka skin, has been changed.

Re-skin means 'new skin', re-color means 'new colors'. If he redid these from scratch, then these are reskins, otherwise they're recolors, which is still a useful trick and can make the difference between okay and really good.

Eh.. whatever, don't listen to these punks. Good job, I'll be using these colts. Although it would be a good idea to find out who did them.

Devin Kryss did them

Let me clarify something here.

Recoloring would mean I just went into photoshop and clicked "image>hue/saturation" and messed with the sliders. That is a 5 minute job.

Note "Three hours later"

I actually found new textures, from other models and from pictures. These models were RESKINNED.

Thanks for the comments all. :D

Hey.. the colts don't seem to play the clip in and clip out type sounds. Little weird.. are they supposed to do that? Also is there anyway to make the colts do the fancy spin draw everytime, not just at spawn?

Vandal

Ooooh, good questions. I'm not sure! I only did the skins, I'll figure out who modeled them and ask!

Wren

I would figure the sound thing would have something to do with command lines in the .qc. Dunno, I'll check.

Wren

They seem to be using sounds that aren't there. For example:

$sequence draw "draw" fps 30 { event 5004 1 "weapons/elite_deploy.wav" }

So all you have to do is find your old greasegun sounds, and whatever clipinout sounds, copy and rename them to the approiate ones. Although I could just rename the following ones its looking for:

elite_deploy.wav
elite_reloadstart.wav
elite_leftclipin.wav
elite_clipout.wav
elite_sliderelease.wav
elite_rightclipin.wav

Although, honestly. I don't know for sure. I'm not a modeler or animator, soundguy or even really know how to skin properly. So maybe the experts could go from here..

Thanks for the comments all. :D So you copy and pasted parts from other people's skins? Or did you do these from scratch or what?

And yeah, just change the target of the sounds in the QC file to get it to play the right sounds. No biggy.

Wren

Yah.. I did that. But now the origins are all screwed up. One gun is far out, and the other is far in.

The new command lines are as follow:

$sequence reload "reload" fps 35 { event 5004 6 "weapons/elite_reloadstart.wav" } { event 5004 44 "weapons/colt_reload_clipin.wav" } { event 5004 73 "weapons/colt_reload_clipout.wav" } { event 5004 82 "weapons/colt_draw_pullslide.wav" } { event 5004 112 "weapons/colt_reload_clipin.wav" } { event 5004 125 "weapons/colt_draw_pullslide.wav" }
$sequence draw "draw" fps 30 { event 5004 1 "weapons/webley_draw.wav" }

Any idea whats wrong?

Also, for a new greasegun sound, use this:

I did both, cheeto. I didn't copy and paste though. I used the band-aid tool in photoshop to paint the textures on.

Some were from photos, others from models.

EDIT: Sorry, I was wrong. It is STILL buggered up.

Bandaid tool, the repair image tool, Its shaped like a bandaide on your toolbar. When you hold alt and clicksomewhere then paint elswhere it paints on what you alt+clicked on.

Thanks Geno :)

Thanks Geno :) Well I gotta warn you then that it might be considered IP violation to clone brush someone else's skins. Especially if you don't credit them. Even if someone just uses the front sight of a gun, they have to credit the original creator of it lest they get the thread killed.

And Wren, CS models have never been fond of being decompiled, unfortunately. :(

Are we all happy? Bug you how? I'm telling you the RULES so you don't get BANNED. I'm trying to help you, not get in your way.

And Wren, you might try Krastio's decompiler. The only other alternative I can think of is to edit each frame of the animations and move the arms into the proper positions.

here are all the sounds you're looking for...

Wren

F***! Of course. Just rename them, lol. Thanks. I won't use those, but I'll just copy and rename. Which is what I suggested before wasn't it..

I'm so stupid sometimes. ahaha.

Eek. Sorry Cheeto, that came out wrong. I didn't mean it to be angry. I was joking around with you.

You're right :cool:
