Fixed M1 Garand receiver.

06-12-2003, 12:19 PM
I noticed the original M1 skin said "Amroury" on the rear of the receiver, not only is this wrong in terms of spelling but also in terms of historical accuracy. So I made this small fix because I was tired of seeing the European spelling of Armory on my American M1 Rifle, I'm just going to release the texture so you can apply it using Half-Life Model Viewer.

If you're as picky as I am you will enjoy this little fix, Enjoy!

Dangit, when I saw 'fixed' and 'Garand' in the same sentence, I thought someone had finally fixed the lighting problems on Nomad's Garand.

Ah...someday...

If I wanted precise historical accuracy I would've started playing paintball, which has a lot more feel to it, its a f*cking game, not the american Normandy loadout, you seem to pretty nationalistic, which in America isn't considered wrong, in Sweden, as soon as you wave a Swedish flag, you either get your arm shot off or get your face in the paper with the label "NAZI"

Shut up guy, if you don't like it, don't read the thread.

He wasn't praising his country, he simply didn't like the fact that it was spelled British style rather than American.

Yeah, Selbstmord, that was kind of an extreme rexponse for such a minor thing. If you don't like having things spelled right, by all means, don't download this, but for those people who do care, I don't see why you must attack them.

That's too bad about nationalizm being frowned upon in Sweden, a healthy ammount of love for one's country is important in it's people, I think.

Go back to the General Forums where you came from and stop disturbing our small little friendly community we have here!(except the the Alliedassault.com forums incident)
Also, you obviously haven't been here alot have you, as you would know we strive for historical perfection.

Me being Australian and a country under strong British influences, we spell it 'armoury'. Same applies to our 's' replacing the American's 'z', along with a few other things such as 'neighbour' written as 'neighbor'...

British = 'zed'
American = 'zee'

Stupid (even though I watched it) Sesame Street's made nearly every kid that saw that show pronounce it 'zeeeee'!! :eek: ;)

And on a somewhat distant relating note... Long live metric! Die imperial!

Hey, wind.... Thank you for wasting 15 seconds of my time, ****head.
Now it's time to make you a bug stain on the grille of my Chrysler.

IN OTHER NEWS: It should be spelled "Armory" because the rifle was made in the United States.... "Armoury" would best be used on British rifles.

Yes, yes...

I was simply stating the difference between the two countries. The garand being an American rifles, would naturally have the words in American spelling. Same would go for anything, made anywhere. I wasn't proving anyone wrong nor anyone right.

But seeing 'Cliff Yablonski' in there, I take it that this message was in light heartedness, should I not? :)

The things that nearly all British History teachers try and skip around are:

1) War of independance
2) Easter Uprising (Ireland troubles 1916)
3) Boer War Concentration camps
4) Britains great job of helping out Poland in WW2
5) The millions of Cossacks we sent back to Stalin to be shot after WW2

Not one teacher I have met has yet to give me a straight answer on anyone of these subjects without mumbling it or developing a sudden interest in their shoes lol

LOL! Thats great, we didnt exactly win Vietnam but they still teach about it here :)

I like the Poland one, but it would be pretty hard for the brits and French to get troops over to poland they would have to go through water filled with mines and German ships.

Ska Wars
06-13-2003, 05:30 PM
yeah, there was no way to really help them. The poles did a pretty good job at a last stand though. Anyone who charges tanks on horse back is pretty fecking brave in my book.

The other subject they avoid is how the British King George left his cousin Nicholas in Russia to get shot during the 1917 revolution.

The US never had a chance to win in Vietnam though. They were out numbered, dint know the ground, dint understand the cause and were up against enemy who had years to bloody set up their defenses and had a hell of a lot of new guns supplied to them by other communist countries and the french who left alot of their kit behind when they pulled out.

They reckon around 1million rounds of ammo was fired by the US for every enemy kill, spray and pray at its best eh? lol

but it was also said that to our 58,000 dead, we killed over 3 million VC and NVA soldiers. Also, Vietnam was more of a political war, seeing as there were so many rules, and places that were "off limits". An American pilot couldnt bomb or strafe and AA gun if it was still being built because it was "off limits", they had to wait before it's construction was completed before they could attack it. There's politics for you :D
