Holy **** that's gorgeous. Not sure how it's related to that blurry-ass POS Kar model in MOHAA because it looks next to nothing like it and a billion times better. (Why is it all retail WWII games besides DoD have horrible-looking gun models?) For once I'm also happy with the included sounds too.

I was getting a bit peeved up until now that all that was being released for the Kar was skins, because I wasn't too happy with the default 1.0 model. This one is great.

You just gotta love that sound of bolt workin while the capped bullet hits the ground...Mmmm BOLT ACTION~

....OH yeah, and the hackjobs are just done superb, just another creation by Devin Kryss that sets an exemplary for many other modelers out there, great job. Hope that hand heals nice and fast :)

I took some pics and made a Collage (SP?), and it should be easier to see the details.

PS: Yes, I'm Chris Sabjan, and that's my real (Hungarian) name. ^_^ ()

I never liked LS3's wood. It was always too fat, and the skin was cut in half. Very ineffecient mesh. Made it look pretty bad. I hated the MOH kar98, it had a acceptable model, and its skin was small, but the wood was in one big mesh. So I do what I do best.

I took the moh wood, made a bigger mesh, put both halves of Polygon's skin over it, sealed the seam, added Ls3's bolt, adjusted the mesh so that purple stuff went away, stretched it FOV style, added a bayonet, got a nicer scope, borrowed and remeshed Glimsharp's front sights from his IS k98 from 3.1, fixed some serious mesh/texture problems at the last minute, good P and W models, y'know, a Hackjob.

Hm..I like the model, but to be completely honest, does it really deserve a 13/10? haha. The skin makes the model look like it was dipped in brown mud and then it dried.

Maybe it's just me, but the skin made me cringe :(

y'know how hard it is to find a good wood texture? I still havent found the perfect one for this model. Polygons is simply on the top of the pile. Medal of honor's was terrible. There was this bad photoskin from Ls3's wood, Polygons v3 was too grainy and unnatural looking, and the default is just that, the default. This was the one I liked the most.

Dillinger, you make nice wood. If you can please do a nice one for this, by all means do, you have a huge mesh to work on here. Also, could you not release you're own version, not because I dont respect you, or becuase I want to claim ownership of the model, but becuase I have the original compile, and its perfect, and I dont trust anyone to do a perfect recompile except me. No offense meant.

No offense meant. That's no problem Devin. I wasn't planning on doing a reskin of this, but if I end up doing one I won't release it. It's your work, so you can decide if you want other peoples re-work of it released or not, so I completely understand :D.

Its not that I mind people re releasing stuff, I mind when people do it, and I like what they did, but they didnt do a perfect job. Such as the meshes sliding and not being fixed, the adding of the cliptotextures line to stop texture cropping. Cause then I go and fix the mistakes they made, and im tempted to re-re-release, and thats makes me feel bad. So I dont do it, and I wonder if anyone will notice the errors.

Im quite paranoid.

Oh, and the wrist feels great, it only hurts when I try to lift heavy things, cause it pulls on the stiches.

I guess it's okay.. but the wood seems way too blurry.

looks great, wood will definately need some re-working though. i dont mind it now, but i would like to see something better on it, in a similar color.

my only problem is Ls3's bolt. its huge on the end, and all skinny on the little arm piece. (whatever its called)

otherwise these look awesome in-game. good sounds too :)

06-10-2003, 12:51 PM
yeah I agree with most of you , is that the wood is honestly the worst part, looks blurry and seems alittle stretched to me. Everything else is well done, if the wood could be fixed up then you could have a 13/10. :)
