I've always wanted to do a model pack with tanker helmets, so here it is. These are the default US infantry models with tanker helmets, goggles, and proper insignia, including individual rank for each class. With the exception of the light infantry and machine gunners pants, they use Higgins 3rd id textures, because they are so much nicer than the defaults.

Thanks for the mirror phokus, and Tydus, you can do that easy enough yourself if you can work HLMV and photoshop, the patches are on their own textures for easy swapping.

Very Cool! Heres a mirror (http://dodec.dodstudios.net/filedb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=560) from the DoD Editing Center (http://dodec.dodstudios.net).

Yeah, the thing about that is most of them still have their normal helmets over the crash helmets. The crash helmets stay on for everyone except for ther sergent, and there is only one helmet world model, so I had to compromise.

These are some of the best models I've seen to date, Trigger!

Seriously. They are accurately made (long pants), well skinned (crash helmet), and just over all some of the best Allied models I've seen to date. Personally, I would have made them all have tanker jackets, though.

Did you make the tanker helmet?

really awsome models.
1 question though, did the infantry in the 3rd armor wear all that headgear or just the dudes in the tanks ?

I think its just the gunners, some infantry, and the tank guys that wear the head gear(guess). THe rest are just like normal infantry

Tanker helmets were not worn by the armored infantry. Soldiers in the armored infantry battalions were outfitted with the same gear as all other infantrymen. Only armored vehicle crews wore the tanker helmet.

I like 'em. GJ!!

I'll use 'em since Nixon still hasnt got a host for his 101st Easy Company pack.

I've been waiting for a half decent pack for the Allies for ages.
These are just the ticket!!!.

Thanks Higgins, I'm glad you like them, I did make that crash helmet, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out, of course, these models wouldn't look half as good if I hadn't used your 3rd ID textures as a base, so thank ou for that.

I considered giving them all tanker jackets, but I thought they would look better if they had mare variety in their uniforms. If people would prefer, maybe I could make a version with all tanker jackets.

Infantry never wore the crash helmets, I know, but they are too cool not to wear in my oppinion.

I'm surprised so many people like these, who knew people liked tankers? I guess I'll have to make a panzer crew next.

The rank thing was easy enough to do, I'll release a zip with everything required in that bits 'n pieces thread for people to use.

Can I make it so only my Staff Sgt is a tanker and the rest of my models are normal? Something to do with submodels, right?

You can edit these to use only the bits you want, but I'm not going to go into how here, that kind of thing is explained many times on this forum already.

As for fist cavalry, they were an infantry unit that fought in the pacific late in the war. I'm sure you know they had nothing to do with armor until after Vietnam. Having said that, I don't see why it can't be done. I might even do it myself.

I was actually hoping someone would use these models for shermans, part of the reason I made em. :D

06-08-2003, 06:42 AM
Heh my butty took a screen of me on top of a tank firing the bar it looked soooooo right for these skins :) the only drawback to these is the dark helmets :) hard to see on dark maps :)

and remember as my old CO always said

Every soldier was a bullet stopper once
