Has anyone done or is anyone thinking of doing the fallschirmjaegers from Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

That would be a direct infringement of forum rules.

Sledge.. read the forum rules...

Anyway... I thought that it could be done as long as you didn't release them here... ???

... and Wolf... I used your Axis Black Knights from 3.1, and if my memory serves me well those had quite a bit "borrowed" from RTCW... shhhh... ;) You released them elsewhere and all was cool...

Yeah, you don't have to release everything here.

Forums rules indicate that we're not allowed to violate intellectual property rights... in this case, the RTCW team has IP rights to their player models. Unless the RTCW team gives explicted premission for someone to convert their models to another game, we can't touch them technically. People do however do this anyway, but releasing hacked RTCW models on this forums would constitute a crime.

The legality is debatable, since fair use could be argued. The point though, is that it's not allowed here because it could be seen as an official approval of potential ip violations.

I meant requesting them here would be a violation. It could be construed as an encouragement for people to do it, which I don't think they like. Kind of like saying, "Ripping skins is cool! You should all do it!" in a similar light as "Cocaine is cool! You should all do it!" Maybe not that severe, but along those lines.

No, cocaine is not cool. And I don't say that just to please the mods.

Yes, the Black Knights borrowed a lot [with very extensive credits], but I did my best not to push the limits here [old forums] too hard.

I've still got ideas floating around in my head for an updated total conversion pack based on the Black Knights premise, but there's stuff I want to finish first. Still. Yeah, yeah, I've been going on about it since I released the first set. *sigh* -_- I know.

why do you think devin couldent do a direct release here for his SSv4.

people who release ripped skins/models get banned.

I think this is one, well at least it says they parachute into fight you http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/sp/enemies_imgs/black_guard.jpg

I like that version of the venom soldiers, but I've never found that model.

The black guard were parachute soldiers. Sort of, kind of, but not really Fallschirmjager. You see a few versions of them throughout the game [which sucks painfully]. They can be used as them, but they're far from any historical references that the RtCW team may or may not have actually reesearched.

They wore black helmets with large gold eagles on the front. Not even close to being historical (like everything else in that silly romp), but cool looking.

My most favorite part of RTCW was that part where you come out on the roof of that hangar area and those guys parachute in to kill you. It was an awsome display of scripting with the way the music adds suspense as you see these soldiers parachuting in to stop you. Not to mention they're toting FG-42s. It's safe to say that I think RTCW is one of my most favorite single player games that I've played in a while.

06-07-2003, 01:24 AM
It was well done. Not even close to being historical though. The crypt area had the feel of Indiana Jones though.

Oh yes of course, I don't think Heinrich Himmler was ever digging for an ancient barbaric warrior named Heinrich. There's been all sorts of urban legends and stories about artifacts that the Nazis were looking for. I think they were in fact at one time searching for the "Spear of Destiny."

It was all for the fun factor and all and they made some modifications to the German uniforms to give them more variety with different enemy types. I think it would have been fun if they had added a scenario where the player goes to the future to find the world taken over by the Nazis (but it would be much better than that horrible game 'Mortyr'.)

Even though a lot of the stuff in RTCW was historically inaccurate, it still made for a fun single player experience which I feel that games have been lacking in years past.

I think they were in fact at one time searching for the "Spear of Destiny."

They where also trying to unravel the mystery of the Holy Grail, by searching through the remains of that Kathar castle in France. I saw a documentary on Discovery channel about that once.

the only thing I liked from Mortyr was that you could kick Hitler's arse, shoot him or stab him in 1 level.I played the Polish version once and made me laugh with the germans speaking german with a Polish accent:p

yeah it might be inaccurate, but sometimes i have an urge to play in a Indy Jones type world. thats what i like about MoH:AA and RTCW. though MoH:AA was far more accurate, it still had that "fakey" hollywood studio set feel to it that i really like.
