[REL] USAAF C-47 Skytrain

This has been sitting on my hard disk far too long and I don't have any more time/energy to mess with it so I'm releasing it "as is". There are three models included - a 1:1 scale "flying" C-47, a 1:1 scale belly-landed model and a 1:16 skybox version.

The crashed model isn't badly damaged, just a few serious oil leaks from both engines, a badly dented underside to the nose and leading edges and a bent wingtip. The port props have been bent back on striking the ground and the starboard prop has been torn off with enough violence to shake the engine loose and displace the cowling around it.

I searched for a lot of pictures of belly landed C-47's and this seems fairly representative of the damage. They were pretty strong birds and the damage from a belly landing seems to be fairly superficial. Then either nosed and and were burnt out or plopped down with a few dinks here and there.

As far as the pictures go, you'll have to use your imagination. The plane leans to the starboard slightly with the bottom of the engine cowl dug in. The port side is resting on the wheel. Mappers will obviously be able to put some smoke or fire eminating from the model, blend in some nice scrape textures on the ground where it's slid to a stop, etc.

The flying version has the rear door as a sub-model so you can choose to have the door open or closed. The door is open by default.

The crashed version has a physics box which allows some access to the rear door but not the fuselage. Because of the way the players bounding box works in source, you'll only be able to get in if you orientate the model at 90 degrees.

Anyway, there you go. Have fun.

OOOOOoo! Goody! Something to mess with!

:D :D

EDIT:
slight complaint. Yes I can whine about anything, even free stuff. The non-skybox model..... it has retracted gear and props that are moving..... pretty much limiting it to a "flying" status - which is what the skybox model is for. It can't be used as a "parked" airplane, so I'm not sure what use it would be..........

Yeah we need to bang heads and you tell me where you want the "cuts" made.

Well the original model was never actually meant to be flying, just crashed. I included the flying one because I got about a dozen requests from people who (still) want to make some sort of parachute type spawn deal. I don't think they'll ever manage it but what the hell.

Unzip the ZIP file opting to keep the folders. Then choose which model you want. In that models folder is a materials and a models folder. Drag those into your day of defeat source/dod folder.

They're for Half-Life 1/Goldsrc, not for Source. Thats why they don't work.

ok....any chance of release for source?

Well this is way off topic but - why?

There already is a Kubelwagen in Source and it's much better than mine and the glider looks crap in source anyway and needs re-doing.

OMG, can this be an answer for para maps? I want to jump out that bad boy with just a shovel.
