Funny. I saw a picture the other day of Germans in a dinghy. If its nothing more complicated than a rubber ring with a floor it shouldnt take long. need a better pic though.

Edit: Not the pic I meant but this sort of thing.

JED....the man that made the U-boats. just the guy.
1st thx for the U-boats top notch.
hope you agree with the map.
this is what i need:

basically the allies are going to spawn in "dingys" around this depot. so a 32 man server 4x 8 man dingy or 8x 4 man dingys. LOL im good aint i.
i would prefer only 4 spawn points. but an 8 man dingy may be too much, whats you think?

any help really appriciated, will get to learning modelling very soon but soo many maps too make..

heres a few pics ive found, seems dinghy's are hard to find.

thx

Theres two issues - one artistic, one technical.

First, if you want the rafts to a realistic size you'll have problems because normally the guys would sit on the sides with their feet in. As players in DoD stand/crouch you'll have to have room in the actual raft for them all which means making them oversized.

Second, if this model is going "in" the water you'll have the double/triple render issue. Models that go through the surface of water get rendered more than once for the reflection pass. So you'll have to have a top half and a bottom half of the raft and move them in sync. That or just have the top part and hope no-one falls in.

emm, i did want them in the water. i was going to have 4-8 dinghys around the depot static. when u spawn you have to swim to the U-boats.

I think in that case then you probably need it modelled as if it's sat in the water but without anything that penetrates the surface.

Let me see if I can clear some stuff out the way and see what I can do. It's basically a modified tourus anyway so its not a massively complicated model.

Jed is it ok to download ur other models from your site and use? its just a few friends say that they cant get them to work.

is it because there owned by Valve?

Trp. Jed

Well the other models are all from Goldsrc/DoD 1.3 so they wont work with Source if thats their problem. Also, all the ones that are flagged as belonging to Valve are in the original DoD GCF anyway.

Posted this in another thread. It's fairly complete externally although I need to re-do the cockpit spars as their wrong (doh). Insides will probably take a bit longer and chew up the polys more as its a tubular frame.

It's not very high up my to-do list. As far as models are concerned, the order of priority is:

- C-47
- Rubber Dinghy
- Pak40
- Waco

And between those I have to do things like update some of my source tools to work with the new SDK. So you'll just have to be patient.

Hey Woody. Now I got the C-47 done I can take a look at this rubber boat.

I think I've found a few reference pics to go on but I just want to check. You wanted something 8 guys could get into right?
