Hello all.

Here my first release for dod source.
This map is inspired in the chapter 8 of Band of brothers.

It is a time map, during 8 minutes allies have to cross the river and capture a german soldier from one to the houses where you can find the first flag.
Then you have to protect him and bring him to your base again where you will find the second flag.

More over as secondary objectives allies can detonate 2cannons and a car to win more time.

Axis As to defend the building where the german soldier is and the secondary objectives until the time finish, then they will win.

I want to add special thanks for Valve and all the modelers that are working for make a better game with allways new stuff!

The map is way too big and also the frames are pretty low as well. It definitly needs better optimization and also a reduction in overall size. The size of the map creates many complaints for many players, which will cause for many servers not to play a map that is this big.

If you can reduce the size and optimize the frames you can see this map being played on a bunch of servers. Until then I wouldn't expect to see it being showcased around too much.

My $.02.

Have to agree. Size doesn't bother me so much but the lack of decent FPS does. If it could be improved I would definitely add it to our servers.

I need to learn more about optimization If someone can help me on this will be very apreciated!!

What can I do to improve FPS ?
Can you send me a link for good optimization tutorials ?

I just wish the preview pics were bigger. But I will say i'm a fan of super huge maps.

Great job, Juan!

Did you notice that they used the same set as in the attack on Foy, but it's from a different angle and set at night? :D I recognize some of the architecture, it's obvious you spent some time looking at the frame-by-frame.

Can't wait to play it....good luck with optimization...wish I could help with that.

Downloaded this and the Brecourt map you did. Great look to them and I love the new capture the prisoner concept. I noticed you can't shoot your prisoner (you know if he was trying to escape ;) ).
I also noticed when I was running around solo that I had some lagging/fps drops that would be killer on a full server. Also got hung up on some things that I think need clipping better.
I wish you luck in your optimization because I really like the original thought you've put in here.

Thanks Ultranew b for the link ;) !

To Ol' Noodle Head: Yeep my friend, they are using the same houses all the chapters :D

Thank you all for the support I hope my optimization will improve soon but still learning about it and I must say at the moment I hate it :( AARGHHHHHHH !!

I haven't seen the map in Hammer, but it seems there's a lot of overlapping brushes - and I couldn't tell - but make sure that every brush that the player cannot see is covered with the NoDraw texture.

The water of the river - it seems like something is wrong with how you constructed it - is it two brushes overlapping? Fixing just these things I mentioned would probably bring about a huge difference in FPS. Also, don't forget to make your skybox as small as possible.

Again, good job on being an innovator! The prisoner himself looks sort of creepy, but I'm not sure what other way it could be implemented short of having a bot.
