I have a texture that causing a bit of a problem. It should be white brick but its all black in came after a quick compile. The face is at about 45 degree off grid ortho, and the tex is marked with a face align in the properties box. Any ideas?

The problem texture in on the 2nd and 3rd levels of the building.

I assume you've checked to see if it's a model texture?

Btw I notice you playing SDK a lot....good man!!

Have you tried using a flashlight to light that section? Sometimes the lighting will do funny things. It could be the way the light is hitting the object, causing the black texture. If you do use a flashlight and the texture does appear, then you know that it's a lighting issue.

Yep - tried the flashlight - black as coal. I do have a couple other problem areas that are light problems - most likely due to a fast compile - so I know what you mean.

Cheers.

Have you tried to "load pointfile" because it looks like a leak error.

You could copy your entire building, for a test, paste it in a simple prefab box, then compile it.

Also make sure the brush is valid ie alt-p to check for errors

I have had that same black texture error on avalanche@night in a few places and I have not found the cure yet . although I did have it on my Aachen map once and I rebuilt the wall and retextured it and it went away this could be your fix .

to correct the black face you need to select the brush and use ctrl + t to tie to entity, then select func_detail.

Converting to detail fixed it - thanks.
