A simple 3-flag bridge map in a rural setting. Asymetric bases, rocks, grass and some models from the surgeon and flashy[nl]

It's all packratted, overview included, and stands at just under 10mb. (no hdr tho')

There's still some tidying up to be done. Fixing models that are sitting off the ground etc. There's also the heavy shadow on the hilltops because of the nodraw visblocking, but I don't see that that matters too much.

no draw vis blocking? are you not able to use skybox textured brushes to do this? also might put some area portals in to help, not sure tho, looks interesting man

Hey Fishy, nice looking map. I ran around the map alone, and it looks cool, but for me FPS is down to 25. That means that on a server, it will be unplayable. Most maps have 70+ FPS for me, so you may need to work on optimization a little bit.

I'll give it a go though, and see how it does.

F23, I know of a place that drops my vid card (an old fx5900 that source forces to run in dx8.1) to 25fps, but I thought that most peoples cards would be more up to it. The rest of the map gives me 45~60, which is as much as I've learned to expect from any map.

I'll be a little more aggresive with fade distances, as models are the only things that stick out a little on the showbudget screen.

walker, yes, the sky texture is better. It still leaves shadows where it covers a displacements vertices, so it's a little more work to make thin sky walls. For the sake of getting a general idea of what people thought of the map, it wasn't really a priority. It'll be something to do if I take this map any further.
Areaportals are already in place.

Someone suggested some ladders on the side of the bridge, and getting the mortars working. Any thoughts?

It's probably the water. I have everything turned up max on my settings, including reflect all. That may be it.

We tried it...With 6 or less people it played "ok". The fps were between 20-50. At about 12 players the infamous "matrix mode" started, and fps drop to under 20. 20 players and it was totally unplayable. It's a likable map if it gets optimized...
