VTF Shell Extensions Update

I think maybe 90% of you who are creating or using VTF files are using this already, but for those who don't you might find it useful.

I've updated my VTF Shell Extensions to properly support Windows Vista as well as XP and W2k. The old version only worked on Vista 32-bit and only showed thumbnails. This new version works on 32-bit and 64-bit and fixes the details view not working. Also adds a natty little summary pop-up if you hover over a VTF file in Vista.

If you're using a previous version I strongly recommend you un-install them first before installing this version.

Full details, download link, etc here (http://www.wunderboy.org/blog/193).

Hmm interesting. Didn't know about that and I see it has a SDK - mighty tempting...

No, must focus on other projects first!

Thanks Jed, I was wondering if you might update it to be Vista compatible only yesterday. Much appreciated.

EDIT: I get an error whilst installing on Vista 64bit:

"Error loading C:\Windows\System32\VTFPropertyHandler.dll

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application log for more details"

and despite saying it's finished installing, it doesn't work.

Hmmm thats a bummer. Glad you posted the error message though.

All signs seem to point to it being the version of the VS2005 C++ Redistributable needed not being on your system. Try downloading and installing this (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=90548130-4468-4BBC-9673-D6ACABD5D13B&displaylang=en) and see if that resolves it.

Hmmm Ok. Leave it with me. I'll see what I can find out.

yep, jam the ham first!

but give the prog a try anyway... you will not get back to explorer once you worked with dopus a while, i promise!

especially for sourcemodding. its amazing what the prog can do with folder structures and such. great tool...

Looks kinda cool actually and the SDK is pretty straight foward.
Hmm, wonder if I could make it open GCFs direct in it :D

OK. Solved the Vista 64bit problem.

You need the VS2005 SP1 Runtimes installed for it to run. You should install them first, before installing the shell extensions but if you've installed them already, try a reboot after you install the runtimes.

Made a quick update to solve the issue of it crashing if you right click on a thumbnail.

You can download the latest version from my site as usual. Uninstall the old version first.
