I'm working on my first map! The allies are supposed to raid an occupied castle and do some objectives and stuff. It's going to look fairly nice because of high ranking officers live there. So i need lots of furniture models like chairs, couches, tables, beds and such. I also need things like pots to have plants in, art and things like that. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a few models packs or something. I've tried to look about the forums and net, but im having trouble finding anything relevant.

The HK model pack doesnt have a single piece of furniture. Its basicly a bunch of vehicle models. Good looking, but not what im looking for.

The mapmodel dir has one wooden chair, 4 tables, a grandfather clock, a gramophone, ad a toilet. All of them are usable, but it would look boring if the map used the same models over and over again.

try Prefabland (http://www.ejoop.com/pfl/showlist.asp?formtype=1&searchstr=&authorid=-1&catid=19&gameid=0&prefabid=-1&orderby=&pagenum=1) or Prefab Lab (http://www.planethalflife.com/prefablab/) or Crinity (http://www.planethalflife.com/crinity/prefmain.htm)

dont know if anything is relevant, but hope it helps....

or you can just spend a few bucks in milkshape and learn how to model yourself. :D

Are prefabs different from the models in the dod folder? They seem so much lower quality...

Are prefabs premade stuff that was made in hammer? While models are external files made in a modeling prog?

Dod quality models are so much better then any other stuff for HL out there. It's difficult to find stuff that matches that level of quality.

Theres about 4 table models in your dod/models/mapmodels directory, and a chair model too. Open up halflife model viewer and check them all out.

Models = Made in a modeling program (cause less preformence hit then brush based structures)

Prefabs = Premade structures in hammer (cause more preformence hit then models and do not look as good)

Open up any model in the hlmv and check all of the different sub-models/bodies for them you will find a lot of what you want there

Yeah, try not to use prefabs unless you can afford to take the performance hit.

But the problem in general with models, is that there aren't enough of them for mappers, there are tons for player models, but very few for mappers.

I've tried modeling with Milkshapoe 3d, went through a tutorial but couldnt get it working (probably cause i didnt pay). I wish there was something like a modeling plug-in for Hammer(turns pre-fabs into models). That would be really really nice.

I'm working on a group called M3 in the MSA forums, I'm going to start sending out pictures to modellers so we can get some nice models up for mappers.

Export your prefabs from hammer to a .DXF then open the .DXF in a modeling program

Most good modeling programs can open a .DXF

to export to .dxf go to FILE > EXPORT TO .DXF

Remember this will export EVERY solid brush in the current workspace so only have what you want to export in the workspace
