More random v_model animations

As you might know, the thompson has got a melee attack (punch) and uses 2 different punches randomly.

What I'd like to know is can you just add your own random animations, for example add like 4 more different punches to the thompson?

And how is it done?

When looking at the smd of the thopmson I can find 2 sequences called something like "punch1" and "punch2".
So if you'd add a new sequence "punch3" or "coolpunch" would it load those?

if you add sequences to the qc it will not use them ingame, if you replace one of the other punches with one of yours (ex. rename punch2 to coolpunch) then it will play ingame

Is this possible to do with the reload animations. At least 2 different ones for each gun?
