hi there, I've made my own soundscape .txt file and all trigger soundscape in the map are well organized.

on my local machine all works fine blending nicely from one area to another BUT:

I manually added the .txt file with pakrat to the bsp of the map and run it on a lan server to check it and there is no soundscape hearing, how come???

how can I distribute it with my map if not inside the bsp??
am I missing something??

thanks for help

I had a problem with this on a cs map I made, for some odd reason the soundscape worked fine on some people and not on others. I have seen maps with embedded soundscapes that work fine. I don't know what might cause this.

make sure you have the latest version of pakrat. If you havent checked in a while, it might be worth doing so.

The only thing apart from that is checking to make sure the path is set correctly. And make sure the filename is correct. For example, if you've been testing a version called dod_iheartorange on your map, but then distribute dod_iheartorange_b1 to your friends, you have to remember to change the soundscape file.

If that still doesnt work, then go with the tried and true method of not pakrating, and just zipping it together with your map file (in the correct folder, of course).

well thks m8's been tring different methods and checking paths but still isn't working when on local lan test (but works fine for me when creating a server....)

same problem with my minimap... appears nicely on local server but not on lan server snif!!!

how would you zip the file appart of the .bsp??

then people cannot have it if it's dl directly from a server on connection cause it's not included in the .bsp???? how do you make it work??

another thing i just thought of. Pakrat goes nuts if the syntax of the txt files isnt exactly correct. So double check to make sure all the opening braces have corresponding closing braces and stuff like that. Also, i've noticed pakrat doesnt like me to repack an existing file. Anytime I want to change a bsp that has already been pakrated (like if i just wanted to add one texture), i have to start over with a clean bsp. I always make backups before i do anything, so it's easy for me to do.

If you want, send the files over to me and I'll fix it for you.

Throw all the necessary files into a rar file and PM me a download link.
