Hi guys!
DOD:S soviet soldiers pack v1.1 is coming soon.
The pack include models of soldiers with LODs, and bump\fong textures (maybee some other differents and improvents).

Also very soon I`m release the pack of some soviet weapons. But it pack will contane W_models ONLY.
I have not enough modelling skill for make good weapon models overall by myself, especially realistic and high detalized V_models. But I`m lurning and working on it every day.
Therefore, currently i`m use for the W_models weapons pack models and textures from other games, as a temporarily solution.

...there is a litle missmatch in the pysic of the russian assault playermodel its whereing the helmet not the pretty hat is the a way u can make a link to the right file i would love to put the skin onto ower servers i already have the 3 just missing the assault...

Sorry, but I`m realy flummoxed by these thing.

If you download the soviet soldiers pack, you have three archives inside:

dods_soviet_soldiers_base_v1.0.rar, dods_soviet_soldiers_pogoni_v1.0.rar
and
dods_soviet_soldiers_vse_vo_vsyom_v1.0

dods_soviet_soldiers_base_v1.0.rar - is the base pack with models textures and sound.

dods_soviet_soldiers_pogoni_v1.0.rar - is a pack with soviet shoulder boards from red army privat to red army major. You can change shoulder board on each class, just choose file, rename it and put in dod\materials\models\player\american foulder.

dods_soviet_soldiers_vse_vo_vsyom_v1.0 - This pack contain models of soldiers with different head gears on each soldiers. There is four head gears: helmet, service cap, field cap and winter cap with ear-flaps (oushanka).

Unfortunately I can`t tell you wich foulder contain soldier with service cap, because you dont understand russian names of foulders. :) But you can try each foulder with HalfLife Model Viewer and find it.

By the way, soviet pack v1.1 will not contain soldier with service cap in base archive of soldiers.
This is an officer, but too many officers if battle field - is not good, i think.
I will put Officer`s model separatly in soviet pack v1.1 as admin model for "Many admin plugin" or somthing ;)
Also I will make german officer for admin plugin as a bonus :)

p.s.
In soviet pack v1.1 all folder names will be in english.

I have DoD:S on my ext. HD installed with the beta of this pack on it, and it's wonderful. The sounds took a bit to get used to, but the overall feeling is wonderful.

Yes it will.
I play with my pack thery long time (more then one year), and NEVER have even a single error incident or other troubles on DODS internet servers.

But, the bad thing on my pack - is absence of Level Of Details in models. If you have not enough powerful computer - dont download
my pack v1.0.
Just wait v1.1 :)

How are you getting these models to work around the "consistency checking"?

Here's the beta that I'm using.

And I'm not having any trouble with consistency or anything, but I guess it depends on how the weapon models are in the final version, since the "beta" above only has players, a TT33, and sounds.

There is a setting that any server can enable called "consistency checking". It is an anti-cheat feature. Unfortunately it also prevents anything but the default player models from being used. If it is turned on, a person who does NOT have the default models will not be able to join the server.

It is the main reason nobody has made custom player models for DOD:S

Thank you, now I`m understend. I`m hear about this thing. When I`m made the Dragunov sniper rifle for CS:S - some servers is turn away me with this model, because Dragunov is much longer then AWP, and piece of Dragunov`s barell to be beyond the hitbox (or pnisbox) borders of AWP. In DOD:S i`m have the same situation (SVT-40 is longer then Garand, PPSH-41 is longer then Tompson) but nothing happend!!!??? Like I say, I`m playing with my pack almost one year, and NEVER have any trouble with steam in DOD:S servers. So, I`m haven`t any idea about it.
Basically I`m playing on east-europe (80-90%) and russian (20%) servers (In american and ohter countries servers I have too big ping :D ).

By the way, I`m making soldiers thery accurately, and anyone part of soldiers body or gears dont to be beyond the hitbox borders of default valve soldiers.

I think, everyone can make models for DOD:S.
The single condition is - do not exceed the limits of hitbox borders of default valve models. And everything will be OK :)

I am not a modeler. From what I was told in the past, by people who were modelers, you could not make ANY changes to the model at all. Believe me this is good news to hear!

OWS (http://www.oneworldsyndicate.com) has a Russian Skin (Model too I think) online. They do a lot of different skins, Marine, Paratrooper, Even a Snow Camo one all at the same time...its a little confusing.

Smitten by phong shading... This could see a revival though, I'd love to see some different player models out there, along with something along the same lines as Coyote's old packs. Different faces did a suprising amount to the immersion of the game.

I have been embedding this pack in one of my test maps, some of it has actually worked just in the BSP file with no files from the pack in the game directory :D

I'll keep going and see what will go in the bsp and what does not. It would be nice to get this stuff in a map as well as being a total allies conversion pack.

I have that map working a little better, looks like a total conversion using a .BSP file is possible... but file size is big, it would add about 70 MB for a complete pack :D

So a .bsp file with a map and all models would be just under 90mb... ouchie.

It's not a Russian map, it's only a simple test map I use for my huds.
I have your pack embedded into the .bsp so all stuff changes as the map changes...just to see if it is possible and what problems there are.

The models seem to work fine, some of the sounds get mixed up every now and again but on the whole it does work.

I have had some crashes, still testing what effect it as when you have custom files in the game folder and .bsp, sometimes it will not override the game folder.

I like to install the pack for testing purposes for the helmet model, but is there translated pack cause I don't understand russian really :confused:

I have copied the american and german player and helmet models (mdl etc) to the correct folders, but somehow the american helmet model seems to be invisible in the hlmv.

EDIT:
I see it now, it seems that the helmet is made invisible and the hat is modeled on the playermodel (hacked).

So can I conclude that custom helmets still dont work?
But luckily playermodels do.

Differences from version 1.0

1. The models of soldiers are recompiled with application LODs (Level Of Details), that essentially increases FPS at the expense of decrease of loading by the processor and videocard (is especially urgent for gamers with low power computers)
2. The models of soldiers are improved by way of historical conformity of a uniform
3. New heads for each class. Textures of the faces are placed in separate files, that facilitates their editing or replacement
4. Added bump and phong effects on unoform (thanks Wile E Coyote )
5. The pack is combined with "Soviet weapon pack" v1.0 (W_models only)
6. The alternative head gear models are removed
7. Fixed some bugs

Yes. All LODs have different numbers of polygons.

Not exactly. All models have same bodies, but diferent heads (with different face textures for each class).

Model is almost ready. Need to accomplished the LODs and I release it.

Guys! Dont forget, this officer is admin model for mani admin plugin (or something). It is for server admins only. You can`t see this model if admin is not present on a server. You can`t place it on a client computers.
By the way, I`m looking for some admins for testing this model. ;)

No. This is a wehrmacht officer. Armband placed on the right arm only (wehrmacht style, left arm - SS style).
Armband is full 3D, and have separate texture, and you can change it as you wish.

could you please edit all of the models to proper collar?

Awesome about the one-sided cuff title. The reason I asked is that I have seen ppl add the German ranks to skins and they have to be on both arms because that's how the skin works. You are correct on your sides and singleness. GJ!

I find that your model's head is missing the top portion. so If the helmet falls off, couldn't that part be exposed?

But, IMHO, the map is needing more russian environment, like russian boards above shops and offices, russian tanks, trucks, other vehicles, maybe Lenin (or Stalin) monument e.t.c.

When I tried to embed them in a small map, the models would not go back to the allied US models on a map change.

Ivan, its awsome.

One thing, thoug, is that when you shoot in iron sight mode the bolt does shoot back. Also, there seems to be a weird crease on the wrist, but thats nothing. Anyways, awesome job on this model, it looks solid!

we knew how to add them correctly into bsp file. but we are waitting ivan to finished the pack, to put it finshed in the fisrt beta.

we have one playable version of the map called dod_soviets_a3, but with allied models, when ivan finished the pack we will add it and release the dod_soviets_b1

Ha ha, I did a phong job, too, and all three of ours are different styles.

Oh, and the normal is at intensity 0, because I thought with all the polies the gun had, it only needed a normal map for the phong mask, and not really to bring out the details of anything.

i only want to add some detail to the star and the"1943"sig(LOL:D ),to avoid that this insignia seems flat on this metal...i am a normal mapper,not a skinner,your skin,i think,is awesome!

I think it's a little too uniform. It doesn't break up at all and doesn't seem to follow the reflective properties of the metal. Just add a little more darks in that area of the normal map alpha.

I saw your SVT on fpsbanana and loved it regardless of the legality, if you need more view_model weapons made for DOD:S I'd be overjoyed in being able to help.

Personally after learning C++ coding I was thinking of trying to mod DOD:S to include the Brits, but if that is possible, it wouldn't be much of a leap to include the Russians as a separate team as well.

All in all awesome work!

I doubt you did because you would have read the README which would have stopped you from posting your unfounded complaint since the readme IS very important, i just figured you might have done that but NO you didn't did you, you just jump the gun and go try to RAT me out to the creator of this incredible work who i'm guessing, like any artist, would want his work to be enjoyed by EVERYONE that plays this game, from all the posts i read from him, oh ya, and the Readme's in the zips :rolleyes:

If you havn't noticed, He was referring to the people helping him with the model. He wasn't referring to YOU. He gave the people who were helping him with it permission to release it elsewhere. He didn't say YOU could, so perhaps YOU should ask permission to upload it on another site. Also, if you haven't noticed, there is still ongoing work on this model, therefore it is still a work in progress and maybe they don't want you releasing it until it's finished?

If you download the soviet soldiers pack, you have three archives inside:

dods_soviet_soldiers_base_v1.0.rar, dods_soviet_soldiers_pogoni_v1.0.rar
and
dods_soviet_soldiers_vse_vo_vsyom_v1.0

dods_soviet_soldiers_base_v1.0.rar - is the base pack with models textures and sound.

dods_soviet_soldiers_pogoni_v1.0.rar - is a pack with soviet shoulder boards from red army privat to red army major. You can change shoulder board on each class, just choose file, rename it and put in dod\materials\models\player\american foulder.

dods_soviet_soldiers_vse_vo_vsyom_v1.0 - This pack contain models of soldiers with different head gears on each soldiers. There is four head gears: helmet, service cap, field cap and winter cap with ear-flaps (oushanka).

Unfortunately I can`t tell you wich foulder contain soldier with service cap, because you dont understand russian names of foulders. :) But you can try each foulder with HalfLife Model Viewer and find it.

By the way, soviet pack v1.1 will not contain soldier with service cap in base archive of soldiers.
This is an officer, but too many officers if battle field - is not good, i think.
I will put Officer`s model separatly in soviet pack v1.1 as admin model for "Many admin plugin" or somthing ;)
Also I will make german officer for admin plugin as a bonus :)

p.s.
In soviet pack v1.1 all folder names will be in english.

I stilll cant found the other files that make the class skin change on the helmets and the faces i think. did you uploaded them yet, i have the v1.1 pack and those are not in, where can i found then, and in that case, when those will be released, aswell as the v_models, i love your work, thanks man, :)

I worked out where the Service cap one was in the V1.0 pack.

In any of the vse_voysom(or whatever folder) folders, the Top left is the Helmet, Bottom left is the Ushanka, Top Right is Sidecap and the Bottom Right is the Officer. Hope that helps anyone.
