Hey guys, I was driving this morning and i just thought, how awesome would it be to make a RPG style dods map

I am thinking allies and axis work together, coop style, and battle their way through to the end of the map, along the way there will be lots of little creates and a couple bosses on the way

this is at all possible?

I dont know if implementing "creatures" is even possible, maybe link some objects that rotate (and crush everything it touches) with a strength level so it will go away when ppl shoot at it enough

example

an orc with a large axe that rotates around

maybe put them on tracks???

do you guys know what i am talking about?

let me knowwhat you think, i say lets assemble a team and collaborate, make this happen, DODS first RPG style map!

I'd rather cut my lips off than play that, but good luck with it.

Sup r3no! I think that what you wanna accomplish is not possible in regular DoD:S. However, you should consider making a DoD:S-Garry's Mod.. Mod. Also, Garry's mod has Lua, so you can code your own gameplay modes, all the crazy stuff you wanna do.

well i might be able to make really really basic 'creatures'

i will probably make a alpha version early April, maybe you guys can check it out and add to it or give tips.

Oh what about a dod_the_rolling_boulder_from_indiana_jones map where you get crushed if you dont dodge the balls hehe

would you play that or woudl you rather cut off many an ear?

This reminds me of maps I made for CS Source, trap_catacombs and trap_hitech, which are mazes with various traps, like crushing stones, spikes, botomless pits, etc.

since we are kinda off topioc here, what about this idea

i know its wierd but it might be fun and it wil be super easy to make

have like a large room, or maybe uneven terrain with NO walls or objects or tanks, just an empty room.

and the ground is duplicated and raised to RIGHT UNDERNEATH the chin of the player models and is an illusion so people can walk through it.

basically it is like a empty room with chin level water (but not water, maybe orange texture).. so all you see is heads running around.

then somehow make it so when you crouch u see darkness so you cant see ppls torsos and legs

possibly fun?

I've made a lot of these "stupid idea" maps, really just do an orange map and try it. Don't wait for someone to tell you to just do it. 9 times out of 10 stuff I did was fun but ultimately not popular or unplayable, but it's still fun to make them. So just go for it.

actually r3no's maps are very popular, the last I checked (about a month ago).

possibly fun?nah, not this one :o. I really recommend you make something with moving platforms (but not in the theme of Mario, PLEASE!!). That would be really fun. How about a race towards the flag? you should remove everyone's weapons too! or maybe give just 1 rocket and nothing else. now that would be fun!
