In reality the MG42 shoots at 1500 rounds/min as opposed to the 500 rounds/min it shoots ingame. This pack won't change the actual ROF of the MG42 ingame, it will only make it feel that it's shooting at that rate. This is made possible by redone bullet shells, and several other sounds. It's difficult to capture the true effect of this pack in a screenshot, so just try it our ingame to see what it's about.

the world model shells need to be more spread out. The fact that they come out in chunks of lines looks odd. Try to make it more random :)

I really enjoy this, its really cool to see ingame. Just try to randomize the order of the shells a bit, so it doesn't look like 3 lines of 20 shells fly out.

If you don't get shells from any gun, you might have the following in your config file:

cl_bulletejects 0

I think setting it to 1 should do the trick.

I think the MG42 you're using had some sort of bug where it wouldn't eject shells. You should probably redownload from the thread because I believe it was fixed.

Too bad the MG42 is an nerfed piece of unrealistic useless **** now in the game. Otherwise it would be cool and fire at the right rate with the right overheat rate and it would actually be fun. Can't have that.

hmm.. Good idea and good model

one suggestion I don't know if it is even possible but could you make the shells come out like spinning more than just all of them coming out sideways and looking the same I dont know what I am trying to get at but I sounded like a good idea in my head!

If you could change the sound, and amount of shells that come out, and change the number of bullets it displays, so it seems that you're firing the 1500 rounds when you're only firing like 2 per shot.

I agree with Sgt. Sinister. And the spinning empty shells idea is a good one too. What would REALLY be cool, is after the barrel overheats, you could change the barrel out. I guess I'm just dreaming there...

I agree with everyones suggestions. They seem complicated but cool at the same time. And not to be a jerk but i have to correct you sinister. The MG42 only fires 1 shot per click now. But it has the same overheat rate it did when it fired two per click. That's why it's useless and unreliable.

When you combine this brass spewing MG42 with high poly shell casing models you've got a fine lookin' MG.

Maybe someone could look into modifying the firing animation so it's multiple shots...that'd make it look cooler.

Yes. Maybe modify the idle animation so the shells just spin around. I think that would look good...until they landed on the ground. Then you'd have shells spinning out of control. Quite silly ;)

I don't think there's any better way of doing this. Another way would just be to have the shells eject from the v_model's firing animation. But that has its own flaws.

Go listen to your 3.1 sounds. It made the SOUND of two shots with one click. ROF has not been changed on the MG42.

a sound is a sound, its not a reliable way of showing the ROF. its just a sound.

All we want is this...more shells spewing out, different shot animations so it looks like it fires a LOT more, a better sound so it sound like it's firing more, and the ammo count to be changed to 3000 or whatever so it seems it's firing at the reate it should when really it's only firing the regualr 1 or 2 shots per click.

What do you all think? If enough people want this, I'll post it in the suggestions forum.

more shells spewing is already done in my pack, cant be changed any other way

diff shot animations woudlnt really matter, it woudl look really weird on the screen, watch movies of an mg42 being fired and the gun wont be shaking from evry bullet fired.

and changing ammo count isnt possible without coding

hey whiska's awesome. I especially fell in love with that mg42_shoot sounds!:D But change the shell_mg42.mdl; ya?! It just looks so weird. If you look at the default shell_mg42.mdl you'll clearly noticed that theyr'e twisted sorta like a spiral staircase (even though there's only 2 shells:rolleyes: );) .
EDIT: just make them look more random!

i have my bullet ejects on but i don't see it when im actually firing my 42. Wtf? I don't understand.

Good release, I like the idea :)

Thing is ....

The DoD Team got it wrong with the ejected shells for this model.

The MG42 ejects the shells UNDERNEATH the weapon - not from the side !

Im sure many of you know that.

So, In the real world you would not see them anyway (first person).

I remeber sitting in the Half-Track at a re-enactment show. I was sitting near the front, just underneath the MG42 that was mounted. The Gunner fired short bursts.The sound was awesome enough on its own but the amount of shell cases that fell on my legs was unbelivable !!

I loved every minute of it. I used an MG34 at the next battle show. That was very nice to use !

I wouldnt be to fond of masses of empty 7.62/7.92 shells dropping on my knees... I quickly found out that the Mg42/3 makes them rather hot :P Funny to see the snow next to you melt away because the empty shells are so hot.

Except that it can't. Seriously guys someone help me. I can't see tjhe ejected shells on any of my guns anymore for first person. Is this supposed to happen?

i figured it out. I was using devin kryss bots mg conversion and he fux0red up the first one and forgot to do the shell attachment so i went and found the fixed zip later in the thread.
