RCBot2 package for a simple dods Bot

Now settle down... the word "BOT" gets everyone angry or over excited.

First off... these Bots (RCBot2 beta) are made by Cheeseh. http://rcbot.bots-united.com

I just packaged them, worked out how to put them in DoD:s and made a menu to control them, added a Map and one set of Waypoints.

Use these at your own risk and don't expect much... these are just "dumb Bots" and a beta bot system not even intended for DoD:S. They are however, much better than the ones dods has now...you can spawn a Axis bot, that may be of interest to some of us here that make skins. They do follow simple waypoints on simple maps... use them only on simple maps if you intend to waypoint.

They are just a bit of fun if steam goes down or you want a bit of target practice.

The use of this package is to just install it...then after you are finished, un-install it so you get back the standard or modified Teammenu screen... or you can just leave it it will still function on-line.

There is a modified teammenu with a informative map description you can read about the bots, you must choose the map "dod_orange_gunna_arena" to see this description.

The Teammenu file and the map bsp file are backed up on install... so no matter what your files/hud are, when you un-install...they are restored!
So, If you want to just try it out getting the files on and off are easy.

PICS...

The reason I put this together? Just to have a way of using a axis bot for HUD stuff and skins when testing.... I did not intend this for online use... so don't start any stupid "I hate Bots" garbage... damn I hate those dumb replies.

Have Fun!

Wait a minute, I'm confused...

Looking at the website it says nothing about his Bot being compatible with Source yet you got it to work with DoD:S????

Its a different version, looks like he made it for other source games and has not developed it past a very basic stage, he does have a forum section for RCBot2 on his site.

Read the news "RCBot 2 Updates" further down :)

Also...

RCBot 2 preview... these are the files in the above installer. (http://filebase.bots-united.com/index.php?action=file&id=260)

RCBot 2 Base Source (http://filebase.bots-united.com/index.php?action=file&id=259)

It's just for a bit of local LAN fun... and a tool for introducing a Axis bot where you could not before, outside of a local game, I have not tried.

More Thanks, :)

Think they'll ever be as good as CS BOTS on easy?

heh... they are easy now, they don't shoot back, unless you press a couple of buttons on the menu :)

I don't think Cheeseh will develop these any further, Turtle rock studios (http://www.turtlerockstudios.com/) will more than likely develop any official bots I suppose, that is IF Valve do a bot for DoD:s.
