Rejected 1.0 maps

Any plans on releasing the rejected 1.0 maps, Stuka as example.

I don't know what any of the others were called, so I might already have them or they might be available for download somewhere.

Just Curious.

Stuka was/has been released since 1.0 went public. Look for the version called dod_stuka_v1. There were two other versions prior to 1.0...but each had 31 in the mapname.

Find the current Stuka here, if you don't find it elsewhere...

Hulk, I was under the impression that stuka_v1 was not released by the authors, but rather, someone just updated it for 1.0 and released it. I actually emailed Mawibse and he told me as much. Not saying you should/shouldn't have it in your fine DB... just an FYI in case that might matter to you.

It would be interesting to see a list of the other "finalists" that were the last cuts. I'm sure there's some quality in there.

Interesting...perhaps some kind of statement from Mawibse and 3dMike might clear up some confusion?

I'll go exploring...we had this map submitted to us long ago...and I know I've seen it elsewhere...hmmm...this is news to us ;)

Anyone else know anything on this map?

I pulled the map...pending some type of information from the creators.

I just went to 3d Mike's site and there wasn't mention of it, one way or the other. It just stated they'd be releasing a "beta 4" version of the map soon after "beta 4's" release. I checked the date of submission on the map to my site and it was 5/13. That would be "soon after" beta 4's (1.0) release...but who knows?

Anyway...who updated this map for 1.0 and why would they be passing it off as coming from the true creators?

tsk..tsk...some people's kids...

Later,

Shane

Hulk, read this (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=79614#post79614). Look for a post by "Danielle".

Oh, and I PM'd you about this as well.

Interesting.

I'll still wait for an official word from one of the mappers...before proceeding with a "stepchild" version of this map on my site.

Later,

Perhaps I should have been a little more clear, as I have and have played stuka as 1.0 map(from you're site no less). I meant the other unselected maps from 1.0, don't know any names, but I'm pretty sure stuka wasn't the only unselected map.

btw, looking forward to new houstondod site when you're done

Besides Stuka there is also Narby's dod_bunker, and Zafod which I heard got an update but still excluded.

Not sure if Waldo submitted it or not, but Hedgerow was also majorly redone.

There´s always the possibility that they include those map in later patches. Waldo has already mentioned that they´re probably going to include new maps in future versions.

And there's dod_enemy made by unreal i think.

Maps I've heard were submitted to dod 1.0;
dod_hedgerows- turned down by valve so I hear
dod_cherbourg- arc showed some update pics, no other info after that
dod_enemy- supposedly quite good, bogged down by certain "issues"
dod_ouitz- without para mode, it was turned down and died
dod_stuka- I'm sure mawbise and 3dmike will release a custom 1.0 version

There was also dod_clervaux3.. which should have been in frikkin dod v1.0... That was the single greatest custom map of all time... It was also the most realistic. But knowing Valve....

Don't forget Narby's dod_bunker

I also emailed him and got the same reply. Stuka_v1 is just Stuka_31 renamed and repackaged.

There was also dod_clervaux3..

Very true, I remember savard saying he would submit it. Great map fun gameplay.

Just considering flood of complaints about stuka not being included in 1.0 you will probably never gonna know what was considered. It could make 23x bigger whining.

And you do? I've heard pretty retarded reasons though, whether or not they were true...

I'd like to hear a team member comment on it, give us the inside info on this subject, because we can speculate all we want, but that won't get us anywhere.

First of all, I think we should stop badgering the team with talk about "Valve". From what they've said, it seems that Valve has given the DoD team allot of freedom with this product.

But yeah, I see what you mean. When CS went retail, custom maps just didn't make the cut, and I don't think anybody plays any of the new maps anyways. I could see the same thing happening with DoD if it had some legal reason (the mappers would have to share in the profit after all, and a custom map may contain all sorts of stolen textures and crap).

Second, Clervaux was an awesome map :). It played really well in BFE, but I don't see it as a standard map release just because of it's size. You really need at least 15 people for the map to be good, and even then it's a bit big.

well maybe you guys should just stop discussing why stuka got cut. it is non of your business and you should trust the dod team in selecting only the best maps for their product.

and I don't think anybody plays any of the new maps anyways.
are you talking about dod there ? If you do- then that is not true. Jagd for example, is the most played map right after caen anzio and avalanche, followed by flash and charlie. that was a month ago, and the number of players that try the new maps is rising.

That is correct, jagd is the shiznit.

Hey klein, did someone kill IR? He hasn't posted anything since that 3rd screen for his holland map. I was just interested in how he was progressing on it.

06-05-2003, 09:09 PM
It wasn't cut, it was tactically denied.

I think's he's referring to CS, in that case, he's right. The only popular CS maps are Dust, Dust2, Aztec, and Inferno.

TONS of people play the 1.0 maps...I've seen a lot for most of the maps, the least I usually see is for Forest, but even then there are at least 10 servers.
