Released - dod_cliff_battle

Hi All,

Introducing dod_cliff_battle.

I completed the map couple days ago, wasn’t sure if I want to release the map,
so I let it run on my -=Super Sports=- community servers to see how it would perform and I was surprise to
see players enjoyed very much the game play and the map was extended almost every time on the
server.

I created a lot maps, some makes out to the DOD:S community but some I have
abandoned. Dod_cliff_battle is another different and unique game play map that
isn’t the same class comparing to traditional DOD:S type of map.
The map is designed and planned for open long range battling game play, limited
action for sub-machine gunners, just the middle flag with chock point for
players to battling out on the flag.

dod_cliff_battle has been tested, runs well and trouble free. Here are some
other details:

- Flag 1, (2 man cap) East cliff tunnel
- Flag 2, (1 men cap) East cliff A/A gun
- Flag 3, (2 men cap) Top central cliff
- Flag 4, (1 men cap) West cliff A/A gun
- Flag 5, (2 man cap) West cliff tunnel
- Both allies and axis spawn have multiple exits.
- Majority of the cliff are accessible, fell free to climb and discover.
- Ave FPS is around 40 to high 80
- Depends on the game play I might make changes to the map, so no mini map as
yet, it’s your to discover.
- BSP is just over 8mb, so it should be quick and easy for downloading.

*** Few notes to keep in mind:

1) You can surf down the cliff, if the opening of the cliff is on the left,
while you’re falling off the cliff >>> hold your D = right turn key, that can
control your speed going down the cliff + W = forward. If you do it properly
you won’t lose any health points.

2) If you’re on the top of the cliff, jumping directly into the water won’t
hurt your HP or lose any health point, make sure you land in the water is a must.

Map looks nice, but personally I refuse to run maps that are made purely for sniper fodder. This would be a good map for *sniper* style servers, but not my thing...

If you are looking for new maps but want to avoid one class running amok, you can add in class limits for that particular map to a file mapname.cfg

Add it to C:\srcds\dod\cfg\mani_admin_plugin\map_config

So for a no sniper cfg , add to dod_cliff_battle.cfg

//limits dod_cliff_battle
mp_limit_allies_rifleman -1
mp_limit_allies_assault -1
mp_limit_allies_support -1
mp_limit_allies_sniper 0
mp_limit_allies_mg 1
mp_limit_allies_rocket 2

mp_limit_axis_rifleman -1
mp_limit_axis_assault -1
mp_limit_axis_support -1
mp_limit_axis_sniper 0
mp_limit_axis_mg 1
mp_limit_axis_rocket 2

hey kurt, this map sounds interessting - just missing mini-map sounds bad :P

I'll try it next week on WQ1 ;)

Overview mini maps for my maps are coming, just need to purchase a copy of photo shop.

Here is new updated version of dod_cliff_battle_b3d, surprising enough is doing better then my other 2 released maps. Updating some key areas for better game play and improved FPS. I believe it’s more balanced map now.
