Topic says it all, was wondering if anyone has heard of, or is willing to remake the 3.1/1.x custom map dod_festung. For those who dont remember, the map was based on the movie Where Eagles Dare, featuring allied prisoners against German guards. Obkective of the map was to escape from the fortress via gondillas (spelling?). Anyways, it would be great if this map would be remade for source, always a fun time to be had on that map.

Dunno about whether Festung is being reamde but if not try my latest release dod_eagles.

The outside area is a copy of castle Schloss Adler where the film was based. There are no cable cars unfortunately as there isn't a model and brushwork would have looked pants. But instead there's lots of stuff to be blown up.

Have a google under Hohenwerfen and I think you will find the outside of the castle is a pretty reasonable copy of the real thing. Failing that have a look in the lounge off the Allie sapwn exit and there is a photo hanging on the wall of the real Castle :)

dod_sand_rats 2006 has a cable car in it!!!

dod_eagles rocks!!!

while it was not a popular map.....it made for some fun games good ole festung.


The cool bit was having to scavenge weapons from the enemy. and the escape on the cable car.


I remember running into a regular on these forums years back on a server playing that map (orac). it was a 32 player server and it was crazy hell to escape. but finally before the end of the round we both managed to get on that cable car.......we came under fire when we were almost to safety. he died shielding me from there fire for the victory and the allied fight song!!!!
