A small change to the Objective Icon settings, the background was too wide.... fixed.

The HUDs downloads have changed.

The changes only affect you if you use Medium or low settings in the Video Advanced options.

I made an error to some of the VTF's in these HUD's, Object icons, Win Panels and some team menu graphics were saved with the wrong settings, on Medium and low, the graphics lost quality.

They now look the same on low, med and High settings. Sorry about that.



I have Played with the beta Versions enough now... made a few changes.

1. The installer package has changed, just slightly bigger GUI.

2. The Welcome, Class and TeamMenus are all Black now.

3. The Black background in the Kills and Deaths got a couple of shades darker, the menu has adjustments and, there is a readme for the menu on how to adjust tranparency and weapon icon size, report the size through the console and make a autoexec.cfg file to make it stick. The is a sample cfg file also.

4. There are two choices of menus, Version 8 and Version 1. Version 8 is more to standard, version 1 is spaced out a little more for people who like that style.

The rest is as the betas were.

The MG and Fire select Bars (http://www.dodbits.com/downloads/HUD/MOH_Beta/Fire_MG_Cap_Bar.jpg) are moved to the Player Status Panel.

The Win Panels have changed as they were interfering with some Plug-in panels used on some servers. Small graphics also added to places like the winpanels, object icons and K/D area...

I tried to get them as low as possible, small and still get long names in.

The file dod_english got a touch-up too, the changes were shortened radio messages, and the old class names in dod 1.3. This affects the Scoreboard and the class selection screen too...

Readme info....
Options include...

{SEC01} Replaces... Player status panel. Win Panels (end-of-round Panels).
Colors the Capture Panel White/Black. Colors the Capture Panel Icons White.
Adjusts most HUD element sizes smaller.

{SEC02} Replaces... Object icons with Iron Cross and US Flag icons.
Note that the same style will appear as the small flags in the capture panel.

{SEC03} Replaces... Minimap icons with Iron Cross and US Flag icons.

{SEC04} Replaces... The player ID icons with Iron Cross and US Flag types.

{SEC05} Replaces... Flags, these are simple, untorn,
dirty 48 Star US Flag and Iron Cross Flags. Textures by INsane.

{SEC06} Installs... Extra Custom Crosshairs, includes...
DOT solid XHair Complex Cross Cross Fade Stubbie Cross MG42 Circle and a Light X.

{SEC07} Installs... The Version 8 Team Menu.
More like the Standard TeamMenu but with Black Background and custom commands...
Netgraph... Netcode... Minimap... Audio... Chat Controls.

{SEC08} Installs... Custom font to shrink the netgraph size one third smaller.
This reduction in size still allows easy reading without covering other parts of the HUD.

{SEC09} Installs... A file that lowers the Mani advert Panel lower... away from the flags.
All the messages from a Main server will not cover the Object Icons.

{SEC10} Installs... Authentic class names the same as DoD 1.3
like MG42-Schütze a Machine Gunner.
The class names in the chat and the Scoreboard are also chabged.


READ THESE NEXT OPTIONS WITH CARE!!!!
THESE WILL REPLACE FONT SIZES AND THE TYPE OF TEAM MENU. Be sure this is what you want.


{SEC11} Installs... Small fonts for the MOH Ver 3 HUDs.
This will affect Chat font size and the Kills and Deaths message area.
Also the Player ID name is slightly smaller.

{SEC12} Installs... The Version 1 Team Menu.
Same as the above VER 8 but the black background is seperated.
This covers less of the game screen...
Netgraph... Netcode... Minimap... Audio... Chat Controls.

No problem, in fact it was a good suggestion of yours, I found out that the Iron Cross version is more popular.... not much more, but obviously the swastika is a barrier. I like the Iron Cross myself.

When I make any small graphics now for items like the new menu I actually make three versions, one standard Green and white star, iron cross and us flag and us flag and swastika.

I am interested in anyone that uses these huds on a TFT 1280 x 1024 display,
that is the only res my 20" widescreen (1680 x 1050) won't do properly in dod:s...all others down to 640 x 480, just not that one :)

If someone has a color suggestion I can make other versions as well, place your hud color preference below and I will make one.

what is the main difference between the swastiak hud and the standard hud. Could you post screenies to show it or describe it

The standard one has no swastikas in it, it has the iron cross instead.

That's the only difference in the two.

I have a Samsung 940B at 1280x1024. I love this update, great work. I got my almost my whole clan using it because of what I said about it. Thank you very much for your hard work and this is so far the best update of your MOH hud.

Oh thanks, did you make a team logo to place in the menu? (instructions in the readme)

This may be too hard to do for some it requires a VTF file. If anyone needs a VTF made up email me with a clan logo image.

EDIT: FOUND SOMETHING... I will try to put something together and we will see.

Its a fair bit of work considering there are so many custom icons plus so many custom icon packs!

The dod_anvil2 files work OK when replaced ... these ones, (http://www.dodbits.com/downloads/random/dod_anvil2_object%20icons_us_iron_flags.zip) but no other maps respond to using this method, tried the files in dod_churchyard_b5, and dod_strand_rc1... no luck at all.

I have not been able to find how to do that yet, (have not tried hard :D) it seems once it is in the .BSP file it cannot be changed? Even if a VMT file with another file name is in the game folder it makes no difference.

Maybe ask over at the mappers forum, it does cause a few problems for some of us making custom icons...fine for standard stuff but once it is embedded... other things can go wrong too.

To explain...
There is one map that shows how careful the mappers have to be with "locking up" files like this.... dod_churchyard_b5.

Set your video settings on low, run dod_churchyard_b5, look at the Object icons, some are blurry some are not. It's the VTF settings... the file was saved incorrectly for a hud graphic, I have done the same thing, it's very easy to forget. Maybe inserting other types with Pakrat would work? But... I don't know if would be "the done thing"... mappers permission, server kicks you out because the map has changed.

So... maybe a mapper or two has a point of view on this ?

I may have found a way after all Guyver :)

Too early to know yet but one method looks promising, after adjusting the icons and setting them in the right place one more thing may help, adjust the mod_textures file. I will look tomorrow.

If I am right in this thread, (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1018127#post1018127) a custom pack is possible for a little extra effort.
