Hello to all, apologies for my shocking absence from these forums I made the mistake of letting life get in my way. Tsk. I'm working on a final release of claviers plus a new project but I am having a problem. No matter what I do I can't get cubemaps to build properly so I'm left with horrible lighting issues and all that jazz. Anyone else having this problem?

I find that when I build cubemaps I have to close day of defeat and reload to actually see the new cubemaps... I'm not sure if thats your issue though, especially if your cubemaps are still wrong after a reload.

I always get that issue unless i do the fallowing

Start dod, disable HDR completely, load the map through console, build the cubemaps, disconnect, exit dod, restart dod, enable HDR completely, load the map through console, build cubemaps, disconnect and exit dod again then restart it and load your map to see the final result

I remember that before HDR you could just builldcubemaps, reload materials and they would show up just fine but now its quite a process...

1) Compile w/hdr checked
2) Start map w/o HDR enabled.
3) Run buildcubemaps from the console.
4) Go to advance settings and set HDR on. This will cause the map to close.
5) Start the map again.
6) Run buildecubemaps from the console.
7) Set sv_cheats to 1
8) Run mat_reloadtextures 1 from the console

I did all of that sans restarting dod every time. Plus I loaded by create server rather than console. Anyway doing all that as well seems to have resulted in success :D and next time I'll try out the mat_reloadtextures thingie.

Woohoo !

Yes indeedy it's taken me far too long to get around to it but thats cake. Tea and crumpets at the ready for a playtest very soon, I shall be in touch.

It usually takes longer to enable/disable HDR after a map load even after disconnecting than it does to just restart dod and reload the map, probably has to do with unloading and pre-caching i would imagine

Also reloading textures while ingame usually causes doubling of dynamic shadows
