[REL] dod_farmers_b1

this is a "small" map made out of stuff from plateau. when i playtested dod_plateau, i really liked the grainfields and how people jumped up to see where they're going. so here's a map mostly made out of fields :)

the map itself is almost symmetrical. one side plants grain the other plants corn. so there we have two rival farmers ;) and also the name of the map in it!
there are 3 flags which all need to be captured by two people. one baseflag near each spawn and the seed wagon in the middle of the map.

I like what u have done with the extra stuff!!! Reminds me of classic dod. Stop on by my server and play a couple of rounds!!! Thanks for the map.

is that a large displacement in the 3d skybox with a wrap-around texture on it or is it a large model? either way, it looks great

there's one in dod_plateau... but not one you can cap...

pedroleum, if you want a free webspace and FTP access to host your DOD work on www.dod-federation.com, it's free and you would get your own sub-domain like this pedroleum.dod-federation.com. If you want it, just register on DODF forum and PM me from there and will set you up. We got plenty of disk spaces.

Needs more spawn points...18-20 per side is best.

Thats all I got to say because I haven't gotten to play it in a full 32 person server yet.

While the player limit will not get any higher, more spawnpoints means more POTENTIAL places a person can spawn. While I don't see this being a huge deal, I added around 8 more to each side on my maps.

This is true. Spawn order seems to follow a semi-random pattern. While you do spawn in the same place at the start of the round, each successive spawn is in a different place (mostly). In my beach map, i added 32 ALLIED spawns (+16 axis) just in the hope that the spawn locations would follow a somewhat random pattern and could not be predicted in case an axis got close enough to spawn camp.

This map's a lot of fun to play. If you make beta2 could you lengthen the flag cap timer on the middle flag to about double what it is right now? Sometimes full map caps just happen a little too quickly.

This map is pretty basic but it's a very believeable map as far as a skirmish happening in an overgrown set of fields goes. In our server we really like how you can be standing right next to someone in the fields and not even know they're there until one of you move, and then it's a wtf moment as you get startled and start firing at them. We all break out in laughter when it happens.

having fun on a small map with an element of surprise.


i'll do something about cap lenght... its a little short atm, you're right.

Any news on the next release with the cap length changed. This map is a hit on the server and the added cap changed will greatly enhance it. Much appreciated.
