Question about custom 1.3 skins

Where would I put custom hand and sleeve skins for dod 1.6? None of the skins I downloaded gave any indication as to where to put the files, and I'm out of ideas. I'm sure this is common knowledge but as a latecomer to 1.6, I don't know...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Actually your confusing the issue as there is no 1.6 - last version of DoD pre-Source was 1.3.

I stand corrected, but that still doesn't answer my question: What folder would custom hand skins go in for 1.3?

They don't actually - see in in 1.3 the textures are actually embedded into the MDL file itself. Their not seperate. If you find a custom skin it'll either be:

a) a complete MDL file (usuall starting with "v_")
b) a BMP file that needs importing.

If its a) then you just need to copy the MDL file(s) to your dod\models folder.

If its b) then you'll need HLMV (http://www.wunderboy.org/apps/jhlmv.php) and probably GCFScape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=25) too.

You'll need to open the day of defeat.gcf file with GCFScape and extract all the models from the [i]dod\models[i] folder. You'll then need to open them all in HLMV and import the replacement BMP file and re-save the MDL.

These altered MDL files then need to be put inside the [i]dod\models[i] on you're hard disk. If the folder doesn't exist then you need to make it.

Thats pretty much the basics.

Thanks. Thats exactly what I needed to know. It was a bmp file and I didn't know how to do that until you just explained it.
