Changing the face of dods..

questions

I'm looking at starting a project using the source engine (and mainly dods).

Being completely inexperienced, I'm after mappers who know what they're doing, and wouldn't mind:

A. Helping with the project
B. Helping ME with the project
C. Having a bit of fun with the source engine and mapping etc.

I won't go into too many details here now because I'm keeping it a bit under wraps, but if you're interested please PM me on these boards and we'll talk more.

Thanks.

IMO There's not enough information to even trigger my attention

You should give out a *bit* more info perhaps?

Alright..

Errr..

Maybe I'll just learn to map and try and do it myself :(

Any hints on getting started? I got SDK the other day..

What I initially meant was: If you're up for it, and have nothing better to do, PM me and I'll discuss it further. Maybe I should of added a clipart with flashy things or something..

That plus we have a dedicated server to run it on.

A bit of sport crossed with dods.

If this thread is just going to piss you off and force you to flame, just don't worry about it :)

I think what they're trying to say, questions, is that you're not going to get a single interested response with that vague outline.

At least tell us whether you are making:
A map for DoD:S
A simple mod for DoD:S
A crazy ambitious, total conversion mod for DoD:S
Then you might get people interested ;)

It will involve making new maps, but it won't be a total conversion to a new mod.

It will keep the gameplay and same uses as dods does but will be using it in a completely different way.

We've (my clan and I) have tried it on the normal maps, and it's funny and fun etc.

It will be the dods you know, but playing something different.

I might sloooooowly try to start the project myself, then get a site up, THEN see if people are interested..

..perhaps.

That sounds like a good idea. Make something cool first then get people to help

Yeah, the only problem is, I've never mapped before, so I was wondering whether someone with these skills wanted to try something for a bit of a laugh.

My lack of allowing further information seems to be the downfall with this theory :(

Trying to keep someone from stealing an idea and in turn possibly letting it die completely. Cool.

You guys should mind what you're posting before this thread derails....just a friendly warning.

Questions, may I suggest giving just a bit more than "please join me if you're interested in mapping". I'm sure you don't mean to attract all these replies to you, but really your post is begging for them.

If you really don't want to spill it out for everyone, then contact whoever you're particularly interested in by PM.

Well, I don't know who can or can't map.

And you're right, lol I didn't expect so much attention from it..

It's hard to mention more without ruining the whole thing..

I was brief because I didn't expect all these mixed replies etc. but.. ahh.. It's pretty much keeping the form and use of dod:s without making it a totally new mod but adding maps for different uses and playing a different game using the same old dod:s you know and love.

It's really just for the 'I can map cool stuff and i'm bored and this idea is sort of cool, i'll PM and get a better idea of it to see if i wanna bother or not'.

Not the 'wtf is he talking about' kind..

My bad, carrots for you all :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Just look at the other topics and WIP threads to see who can and cannot map, its not THAT hard to figure out:cool:

I'd rather not harrass everyone with PM's, hence the thread.

Like I said, it was minimal information, so if it sparked an interest it's up to you to follow it up.

If it's not enough info or you don't care then that's fine too. :)
