After a playtest two weeks ago that confirmed the gameplay was good, I have spent some time tweaking some parts and optimizing the map, to a point where I am finally ready to start working on the details pass.

There is a lot of work to be done, but give or take a week or two, this map could be released in September. Other playtests at dod-federation.com will take place, the next one probably being on the 9th.

I'm showing these pics to give you guys an idea of the mood the map will have. There is a lot more coming than this. My goal is to have something that not only plays better than my first map (dijon) but that runs just as well fps wise, and looks better.

Some outdoor screens (1024x768)

Axis spawn area:

Axis second flag (wooden bridge)

Middle flag area (largest part of the river running through the map). No 3d Skybox yet.

And tonight's work, the axis spawn overhaul (still wip though) (1280x1024)

The axis spawn is a cool looking building.

Not everywhere, just on the middle area. It was just easier that way as rain is brush based, and I could find places where it would rain through the roofs.... (depends on the shape of the roof)

That looks really nice, although kinda dark. Are the ribs/rafters in the barn, brush work or did you make custom models?

Cheers

Given how much I enjoy your first map dijon, I can only say I eagerly await rive a map that in your opinion plays even better.
Good work and thanks for your contributions to making Source even more enjoyable.

Both. The main models are HL2's (already used on Dijon too) and the rest are displacement brushes made to look like proper wood trunks would.

Nice work Furyo. I prefer a nice loomy dark map as opposed to a summertime sunshine one ;)
