GJ man, glad you fixed that door by the allied spawn. In the other thread you were being put down by Band Of Sisters for copying someone elses work, but I for one really appreciate what you have done.

I wouldn't have appreciated it any less if all you had done was fixed the original map so it was compatible with v1.0, but you've done far more than that and as an old doder I really appreciate that you've brought this back for us.

As far as using someone elses work, I'm pretty sure this sort of follows a copy-left like situation. As long as the original author is at least mentioned, and NC 17 doesn't go looking for profit, what's he to say.

Good work man.

Nobody gets a profit from releasing a map and yes, I will state my case with each map released that is like this.

It's called respect. Have at least that much for your fellow mappers and leave their maps alone. I see alot of potential in some of these original maps and I would hate to see the custom maps scene just be a rehash of old maps that are redone by others. If the original mappers want to rework them fine, if not, let them die in peace.

If the original mapper has gone *poof* and doesn't respond then there's really no harm in redoing it as long as the original mapper is credited. Now if he didn't even bother to ask, or the original mapper said no, then we have a problem. But it's not like he used all the old brush work, he redid this on his own, just using the same basic layout.

I love Hill, thank you for redoing it.

As for the 'debate' about redoing this map, I can't speak from a mappers perspective, I don't know a thing about it. But I do some skins and vgui work and I would think some of the same basic "rules" about IP would apply.

If the creator is still an active community member, ask. They always have first right to any remake, or simply the right to say no.

If the person is no longer active, or just become so obscure he cannot be contacted, then there is no harm done as long as sufficient credit is given.

To be honest I have downloaded skin packs by people I have never heard of and seen my stuff in it. I check the readme and see my name and it puts a smile on my face every time. I think it is all about the spirit it is done in. This map was simply done to bring back one that was so popular it is discussed in the official FAQ. Due credit and reverance has been repeatedly paid to the creator. No foul IMO.

The map is very nice! I love it. It was my favourite back in 1.3.

My only gripes are the spawn points. It would be nice for the allies to have two houses to spawn in or something, and axis could have a second exit from the bunker. That way MGs and snipers would have to cover more area.

Think you are doing a great job NC17 but a little tip for next time, try releasing a beta version first to get rid of the bugs...

Now you got a minor version problem ;P

Cool, thanks for making a seperate thread for the re-release...I just tried to connect to two servers running the map but they were still running the old one. Hopefully people running the map will notice this new version and update soon.

ARGH. Most servers running the map are still running the OLD one and I can never connect. So if you are running this map on your server, UPDATE. And if you know someone who is running it, tell THEM to update.

NC-17, just a suggestion...you might want to delete your post/thread with the outdated version, that way this is the only one people see when they come to the forums.

Glad for the remake, was one of my favs in 1.3. I noticed some of the other stuff you were working on. Looks strait up good.

Lots of luck with them.
And I have to agree that version number would be a good idea so as to avoid client/server confusion

Also, what about bots for Sturmbot?

The map is great.

But I found when you blow up the wall all the way to the left (if you are looking towards the hill from the Allied spawn) the sprite for the explosion is surrounded by blackness. I'm not sure about the others, maybe it isn't that big of a deal.

we need more servers playing this map. Believe me people will play.

Heh, try all you want, but you won't be able to get rid of the spawn camping :)

but at least the axis spawn is pain in the ass to get out of too.

Thanks for reviving my favorite map ever. My only complaint is that the moveable cannon has been replaced with just a motar. Nice job on everything else and good luck with your other remakes.

This is a pretty awesome map NC17. I never had the privilege to play 1.3b or earlier betas but I'm sure it woulda been hella fun with the Garand ownage that I hear 1.3b featured.

Hill was fun for me because of that cannon at the front of the base (sadly replaced now with a motar). If something looked like an Ally, I blew him away, and it was fun despite the fact you didn't earn a kill. I also liked sniping the allies with my semi-auto sniper rifle (back in 1.3b, the Axis used the K43 as the sniper rifle, which was changed to the K98 in 2.0). It was fun for the Axis, hell for the Allies, escpecially if someone spamed the motar table. Because of that, it was very rewarding for the Allies if they make it to the hilltop, let alone win the map.

Heheh - this is fun.

Only suggestion so far: get rid of that door as the only exit for allied spawn. Way too easy for someone to block it. The bots do it pretty well too. Maybe just blow open the back side of the house?
