I'm sorry, but to me the skin looks way too rough, especially in the rear where it is noticed the most. It looks like someone took a heavy beadblaster to the metal finish. I think perhaps you went a little overboard with the noise or sharpen filters, mostly on the rear endcap that the stock and receiver fit into. It just gives me the overall effect that the weapon is made of completely unfinished or beadblasted metal.

That said, I really like the wood. Especially the color coordination with the light brown wood.

thats what i was wondering. in the preview thread, the skin was very high res, you could tell every piece of would was there, but this isnt as high, is there any chance you can release the high res version?

No, you misunderstood, what he released are the high res versions. What I was asking for is a low res (default sized) version.

1024x1024 = default
2048x2048 = high res

did u put the normals in as well as the vmt?the only reason there were no 1024x versions was b/c i couldnt fit all of that into one folder. Fps only allows 12mb submissions.

Having a 4 mb normal map isn't necessary. It doesn't give any noticable improvement over a standard 1024x1024 normal map. If you'd used a standard normal map size you would have had room.

Other than the lack of a low res alternate, it's a quality skin. Please do 1024x1024 versions.

LOOK:

Some of you need to actually look at the texture instead of just trying it in-game and then saying "This doesn't look high res"

:rolleyes:

Once again,

1024x1024 LOW RES
2048x2048 HIGH RES

EDIT: Even the normal map is high res, so I don't know where you're getting this stuff:

You've totally misunderstood me. I was saying two things:
Can we have a low resolution version at 1024x1024.
Using high resolution normal maps at 2048x2048 is pointless as they do not give any noticable improvement over a standard size of 1024x1024. Besides, using a smaller size normal map will give Shifty the room to put low res versions in his package.
I know that 1024x1024 is the standard size. I know these are in 2048x2048, I've been trying to reduce their size down without misaligning them in compile back to VTF, but without success.

EDIT: I see what you meant, I put high res by accident. I meant low res there. That was a typo, not intentional.

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE:

I too am now getting this:

After experimentation, it is not the VMT, or the alpha mapping and normal mapping. Its something in ALL of the view model textures that is doing it. None of them work for me, except like that. The world models (once resized down to 512x512) are fine.

As far as the model looking strange, try just using the vtf file. It worked for me.

i didnt know my skin was going to be such a <3<3<3<3<3. It worked fine for me so when i released it i assumed it would be fine. I honestly have the slightest clue as to y it is doin that.

I ran it with just the VMT and it worked on the default. I used just the VTF from this pack and it became a glitch in the Matrix. The VMT is fine. I have a perfectly alpha mapped cyber-MP44 (with working wold model).
