|WIP| DoD_Fuhrung (Formerly dod_gamein)

This is a Work in Progress thread for my upcoming map dod_fuhrung which was formerly named dod_gamein, below are some new screens and release of beta 1 of the map is to fallow sometime soon

The map will be an urban village style map with a river/canal in the center (as shown in the screens), i plan to have alot of enterable buildings and really cool positions to utilize as well as a small undeground tunnel system used to chanel water, the map will allow long distance and close quarters battles and i am going to try to have some unique physics based entities that can be used to damage enemies, a raised walkway/balcony which can be droped on enemies by destroying the supports for example

NOTE: Some of the architectural ideas in this map were taken from official dod maps, all credit due to the original mappers for their work

Nice looking !

Suggestion, In SS#1 the world fog/skybox fog transition is too noticeable. (white fog covering up items in that nice skybox) You could possibly try increasing the world fog distance and/or increase the skybox fog distance.

Yeah i already fixed that, those screens were taken from the first compile since i made the 3d skybox so i was pretty close ;)

I am also still tweaking the water and fleshing out the map while trying to keep performance managable

Once beta 1 of this map is released i will have a special suprise for the comunity :D

Your map looks great. I love the village feel of it. To bad para models were not still around. I think they would go great with your map.

Looks pretty nice. The only thing I donīt understand is why you changed the name - Gamein fitted better imo.

Map looks nice, but you should really get rid of the existing DoD:S houses and make your own! Having such blatanly copied and pasted buildings are no good.

All of the buildings have been redone which can be seen in the latest screenshots, there are 3 buildings for which i used designs from other maps (flash, kalt and salerno) but there is absolutely NO brushwork that is copy/pasted anywhere in the map unless it is from my own prefab VMF

I appreciate the concern about this but i don't want to get into the whole thing in this thread like we did in the old one, using other people's building designs is just like using someone else's models as long as the brushwork is not copy/pasted which causes major errors and performance issues anyway

As far as release of the map goes i hope to have the map ready for beta testing by the begining of next month

New screens added to the first post under * LATEST IMAGES *

The screens show off the inside of the church i just finished which will be a spawn area, most likely for the germans, it will replace the current spawn which is a bank and did not fit very well in the final layout

And don't worry about the visual glitches in the screens, i have already fixed them

After i redo the area around the church alli have to do is add the objectives and a small backdrop area outside of the allie's spawn

Beta 1 will be available soon fallowed by beta 3 of hill_classic which will hoipefully be the final beta of the map before final release

Quick Update

I am finishing up some architecture, namely the yard around the german spawn church which will of course include some graves and a few craters ;)

After that is complete all i have to do is add the objectives and a bit more "plushness" to some areas then it will be ready for playtesting, more screens soon
